Manny the Galah
Last week Manny (our Galah) wasn't going to the toilet enough.I checked him and he had a plug of poop on his bottom.Pasted vent according to google.I rang the emergency vet and he advised I take him into a warm shower and remove the plug.I wasn't sure about this idea,Manny had never been into the shower and I was keen on retaining my eyes and skin.So my wife and I put a few inches of warm water in the bath and slowly lowered him in.After a number of minutes of him sitting there being stroked I was able to remove the plug.Huge relief all round.(pun intended)
We've been keeping a close eye on him since then but he seems fine and is back to being the great little pooping machine we love so much.
I hope this helps anyone with same problem.

I'm so glad Manny is doing okay, how scary:(
Now that he has been in the shower, he may love to take baths in there now:)

I'm glad to hear that Manny is okay now, and that the problem hasn't recurred. :)

Did you know this is the reason they remove the tails from lambs? the runny poop often builds up on the tail creating a plug which can be deadly if not caught in time. Its pretty simple to realize this is happening on a brand new lamb if your sheep use lambing pens, but on a sheep in the pasture it would be hard to catch. Sooooo they remove the tails. Glad your issue didnt require such extreme measures!! Glad everything is ok and thanks for sharing :)

Glad to hear Manny's all better. And thank you for sharing that, Shempy. I'd never even heard of a pasted vent issue before! (Nor of a similar occurrence in lambs which necessitates the removal of their tails. Thanks, Dani. I love learning new things!)

Lol, I learned it when my uncle explained it to me while he was cleaning a butt. Then he showed me how to do it. Of course he didn't have me do it myself since I was only about 6 years old...

I had never heard of this before. This made me go look it up! Thank you for sharing and I am glad everything is okay
