Can someone please give me some info. I’m going to set up an appointment with an avian vet but for the last few days Hermin my dusky conure has been acting weird. He will have random moments where he wants to play and be friendly with me and then other moments where he will snap at my fingers or not be socialble. He is eating, playing with his toys, and drinking properly but I got really really concerned because he was shaking a bit earlier. He has always kinda shook a bit but today I noticed it more because I was super worried so I don’t know if he’s sick or just being this way because of breeding season.

He is usually my best friend, cuddling with me and always beside me. I just don’t know why he would act this way unless it is breeding season or he is unhappy with me for some reason.

How old is he? It's probably hormones, is this his first bout of hormones?

I personally feel that this season of hormones seems to be really strong for the avian creatures of the world. Not only in my household but across the board here on the forums. Sounds like hormones to me.

Could be any number of things, including being sick. Doesn't hurt to rule out illness and then work on behavioral reasons.

He is five years old. I adopted him maybe a month or two ago from a bird store near me, his owner gave him up because Hermin had started plucking his feathers out. He actually started acting like this after I moved him and his cage next to my sun and jenday conures.

You’re right. I’m going to make an appointent for him in the morning. Hopefully my avian vet is open tomorrow

I agree with you. All of my birds have been a bit difficult this season. My pattagonian conure and senegal have both been very very bitey, my senegal I expect that from but my pattagonian has always let me pet him and now he won’t allow it.

Alright so good news and bad news. Good news is that Hermin is not sick, he is hormonal, he is experiencing cage aggression and mood swings. Bad news, it seems like Hermin had started plucking again so I was given some vitamins to put in Hermin’s water. Also, Hermin seems to be attaching more to my boyfriend now than me so I’m hoping that when my boyfriend moves out to go help his mom it won’t affect Hermin too much.
