Parrots
GW Macaw, CAG, eclectus (Kiwi- RIP)
Did this pencil drawing of our sweet GW –*trying to capture her mischievous expression and the soft flow of her feathers.

I will do a series of her in various poses and I’m planning to do a second series of drawings of our CAG in the near future. I’m presently working with my two ”live” models at home but I’d like to eventually expand to include other species of hookbills.

One thing is for sure, as I work on the details of such a drawing, I cannot help but marvel at their beauty and grace.

I will offer this one to a local parrot rescue organization as part of a fundraising effort.

Awesome ...Well Done...the rescue will be thrilled with your contribution

Very talented! You captured the GW smile really well. My son does that kind of pencil work, so I know what goes into a work like that. How large is the original? For some one who owns a GW or is just a parrot fancier, that will be a nice 'be addition. I offer up Salty as a subject!
Do you take commissions?

Thank you wrench13!

It does take some time because of the level of detail and the fine cross-hatching technique I use. Once I’ve established the general outline, I always start with the eye and work my way up from there, leaving the beak detail for last.

The original is about 10” x 12”, done on acid-free quality drawing paper.

Yes, I do take commissions.

Wow! Wish I had talent like that! Amazing detail. You did a great job.
