Dog behavior question

Thanks . Chris, I looked up the link. It's not that reverse sneeze. Another curious thing is she kind of snarls her face up when she does it too. It does tend to come with some sort of excitement.

Exact thing my Jack does. Interesting . He is at the vets every 6 months . She has never found anything wrong

My Ziva is quite the dog with facial expressions. Dogs sure are funny, unique and each one is an individual, therefore the same behavior among dogs, even within the same breed, should never be labeled as 'normal'. Sure, it very well may be perfectly normal, but you just won't know until it's been checked out and confirmed.

Even dogs can and will hide illnesses, especially if they are those who want nothing more than to please. And I've never come across a dog who doesn't want to please.

Okay, I will take her for a further follow up. Thanks . I feel that it is only behavioral as she only does it when I give her the food bowl. Still I will take her for a more complete thorough exam to look for other things that may be going on in her body, as she is a senior now. We plan to take care of her as we take care of my birds

Okay, so a couple days ago I took Patty to the vet for a thorough "inspection" .

Heart and lungs sounded good... updated vaccines, blood panel showed organ function normal... heartworm test negative... fecal showed negative for parasites. The vet honestly thought the sneeze upon excitement was behavioral. Seems she's a pretty hardy dog at about 9 years old. Thank goodness.

I bought some Trifexis as a preventive for fleas, heartworm, and intestinal worms. It's a pill they take once a month. Anyone use that?

Yay for the good news, Julie! I am glad to hear it was behavioural. So Patty is like Church when she gets excited...let me tell you from experience, keep your snack or dinner plate away til the excitement stops...very gross when they sneeze into your plate
