Going to see this bird today and take a closer look, maybe pick him up. I have read that beak and feather is common in young galahs and lack of feather dust with shiny beak/feat is a sign of being positive. From this pic his beak does look a little clean and overgrown? (which also a sign of beak n feather)
BTW he is a western species so the ring around his eyes are bigger and more white they also have paler plumage; crest more full and strongly suffused with pink.

While we're waiting for the cockatoo-ologists to come along...

He looks good to me, beak and all! But trim those nais, right?

Love that pose... shows alertness and curiosity.

What a cutie! I know for sure that if I went to see him, he would be coming home with me.

I don't see anything particularly alarming, but you could always request a vet check at your expense as a condition of sale to be sure!

Beautiful galah. See the vet to get a full picture. His curiousity is a big plus. Sick birds don't really show much interest in anything.

Spent a couple hours with him today, such a sweet bird and likes absolutely everyone .. also demands head scratches from EVERYONE by putting his head down and seems to NEVER get sick of it! I think he would literally let me pet him all day. I really don't like buying bird's from pet shops as I think it's just too easy for them to be sick, this guy has only been with them for couple weeks and stole my heart so this guy may just be an exeption. Price is very cheap (only good thing about australia) + they will take blood and send for beak and feather and whatever else I want at my expense upon purchase with a money back garantee if he is indeed sick. Uploaded a video of me and him today. I'm sleeping on the decision!

The first picture of him posing is priceless. Indeed he looks quite attentive and curious...and healthy to me at least. How old is he?

I had one experience with a young galah at my local pet store and he too just demanded head skritches...then climbed my arm to put his head under my chin :p
But at $3,500.00 USD...ummmm...well...

Ouch, this one is ~$350 and you can find them much cheaper from breeders, like I said cheap galahs = only good thing about australia! Amazons, greys, macaws all cost several thousand here.

3 months old is what I was told but If I go by what I read about the galahs breeding season he would be 6-9months from last season or more if from the season before! He doesn't have much grey on chest also. I mentioned this and was just told those stuff apply to the eastern galah species not this one.I can't find solid info on how much grey baby westerns have or they're breeding season is different but I'm still skeptical about him being 3months old at this point. I do know he is pretty young just by looking at his eye rings though.

Amazing! A Galuh would be my ultimate dream bird, but I could never afford one here. What a gorgeous bird. I hope he checks out well. :)

What beautiful, charming, and well socialized galah! Good luck, I hope this works for the two of you!!

Is it possible he's 3 months weaned, not 3 months old? If I'm not mistaken, it is now winter in Australia, so if he were hatched in spring, it would make sense he might've weaned (or arrived at the store as a newly weaned bird) about 3 months ago. Sounds like the store is willing to work with you on making sure he's healthy. It is a generally good sign if they are confident enough in the health of their animals they would allow a vet check and offer full money back if the animal was indeed sick with something serious.

What a cutie! I have an 11 week old at the breeders who will come home with us in August:). She hatched March 24th.

Looks like I was right, we spoke more about his age today and dna cert was dated to mid december 2016, when he was about 2 weeks old so he is about 7 months old now. I put a deposit down and will pick him up next week, easy part done.. next is the stressful part of setting up cage and checking health..

He is gorgeous, looks just like Plum! Beware re the beak trimming please seek AV guidance first. I have asked my AV re this to be told no it is fine. TBF RB2's love to keep their own beaks trim and Plum will rub up and down the wall doing this. If he is as young as you say he is then his nails should not need touching either. Ensure he has one or two rough perches and this will help with any sharp points.

Head skritches, yes they love them, you can literally rub a hole in their heads LOL.

Thanks, I won't touch beak or nails and yeh he's definately that age. Can't wait to check his weight and give him a soaking shower. I don't think he's had a proper clean yet, just light mists. The guy did say soaking isn't a good idea on galahs, cant remember why though or if it holds any truef. I've met a few galahs this year and none demanded this many head stratches, I'm sure I would get sick of it before he will lol.. I like the fact that isn't afraid of anyone too (complete oposite of my alexandrine) Any pics of your boy?

I only have my avatar pic at the mo. Spray misting is good and the young 'un I am holiday mum to loves them, he asks for a shower lol. RB2s love head skritches and cuddles. They need boundaries also, as will become apparent after a while. Prove you're the alpha and all will be good. Please look into quarantine as it is better to be safe than sorry for Bella's sake.

I'm already thinking about quarantine trust me and almost didn't buy him for these reasons. Being in the same house already means it's not a true quarantine (airborne virus's) but I'm taking the chance and will minimize exposures , i'm not going to think too hard or I myself will need a vet, just going to do the best I can and hope all pans outl. First thing I did was pop my clothes in the wash and hop into the shower upon returning from the petshop. Maybe thats not enough or what about residue on my phone/keys? wait im supposed to be not thinking too hard, opps! I REALLY hate how easy it is for these guys to catch a deadly virus, they basically can catch aids just by someone walking past them or from a bird housed 100ft away or even just from a trip to the vet LOL? I must admit it is going to be difficult but life is never easy for a worry head :)

I wish my 3 year old girl loved head scratches. The only time she does love it is when she is in her harness. She's so independent but can't complain because she is seriously an amazing bird. Good thing but I'd love a little more affection from her. Lol. Hopefully the new baby will love the head rubs.....at least until maturity anyways. Good luck with your new cutie! I look forward to seeing more pics!
