Hi Everyone,

I recently bought a HUGE java wood stand for my Alexandrine. I haven't used it yet because it's too big for the room he's in at the moment.

I've noticed it has a very floral smell. It's very nice, but I'm concerned it might be the smell of a cleaning product? Only had cage perches before and not noticed a smell.

It is second hand and I'd give it a good clean before using it, but I usually only use boiling water and elbow grease! If it is a cleaning product do I need to try and get rid of the smell too?

Thanks

I have never had a piece large enough to notice any aroma.

Its always a good idea to clean anything that is second hand and some new things depending of packaging or build source. My Mrs, would say everything must be cleaned.

For this time of product, I use Dawn Dish Soap, without scent or bleach added and Hot water. Hot water rise three times and let dry in the Sun. A good scrub brush does it wonders!

Do you think that even if the smell stays it will be OK to use as long as I know I've cleaned and rinsed it well?
