I Hello all,

As I continue my exploration of the possibility owning a new bird for the first time in 12 years, I'm curious about the price of birds.

Once a year I spend a week at the beach 3 hrs drive from my house, and where I go there happens to be a parrot specialist shop (not sure if they do the breeding themselves or are merely retail and source the birds elsewhere) along my route.

I'm thinking, should I decide I want a bird and happen to stop in, find the bird of my dreams as I'm driving home, and was willing to buy bird, cage, and accessories there, are these places generally willing to make a deal?

Are the prices with breeders usually firm? Has anyone tried to negotiate for the price of a newborn or is demand too high
If it helps, I'm strongly considering a blue crown.

Tha md for your help!

LOL...call me the "Negotiator"....Everything in life s negotiable....That said, I paid 700 for my Grey, as a baby that was listed at $1100 and paid 250 for a new cage for him, brand new, fit for a macaw....Paid 750 for Zon cage and all....paid 300 for other Zon...

My wife calls me crazy in negotiating such great dealswhen she wouldn't have been able to.....LOL...so yeah...no such thing as a firm price in my book. I even Negotiated my auto insurance lower, and medical bills, and etc...nothing is set in stone.

You'll probably need to stop in at the shop & have a talk with the owner...though I've never been a breeder, things like renting/owning the building & if renting/leasing, is gross sales factored into the lease payments, though I would think there is some negotiating room, but have no idea how much.....

I think making an advanced decision would be a good idea would be a good idea & give you a possible negotiating point.....

Good luck.....
