I would love to make a play stand for my two cockatiels does anyone have any ideas I can use to make them one with PVC pipes and I would need the measurements to go with it

There's a book out there Called 'Parrot Toys and Play Areas' ( https://www.amazon.com/Parrot-Toys-Play-Areas-Some-Parrots/dp/0967882001 ) That goes into depth on how to make them, from swings and table top stands to large ones for macaws. There's also a guy on Youtube who makes really cool perches out of PVC and does it in an idiot-proof way (LOL!)(
) .

Thanks for this link. Some of my budgies (one girl, Rocky) destroys all wood playgyms. I'm going to make one that she can't chew up like a beaver.

** Tips her hat** I also love watching him work!

Does this give how to locate materials. I see wooden dowels. Recently went to craft store for wooden dowels. All were imported and labeled as wood, even popsicle sticks and tongue depressors. These are items that should be better labeled because children put everything in mouth. I put these on my caution 'do not' purchase without more info list.

I don't trust because label is simply states wood. It's imported so uncertain controls; pesticides, wood type, possible chemical contamination etc. Purchased straws from there a few years back. Stated straws on label. Didn't turn label over to read completely. After all a straw is a straw right. Opened it up and the plastic smell was overwhelming. I read back of label. In tiny print stated crafting only. Didn't want to be in wood is wood right situation. FYI; after 3 months I threw those staws into recycling bin. The smell was weaker but still noticeable. That craft store sells quality products. I have zero complaints with them. I freely admit being paranoid for my feathered owner's health and safety. She's exasperating, loving, dictatorial, sweet, and I am her human pet.

But wood is not something that has ingredients like straws do, which are usually made from plastic, but paper straws are becoming popular. What more would you want listed?
As for being imported, I doubt it matters. Since wood isn't a food product, the US doesn't have controls for chemicals in dowels made in the US or imported ones because they are not food products. I work at Lowes and I don't know if the dowel rods we sell are imported or not but they probably are due to cost.
Look at Amazon for many dowel rods for sale. Even those don't say where they are made.
Dowel rods are made from Birch, balsa, poplar, bamboo, or oak and possibly pine.

Paper is something made from wood that is far more likely to have chemicals in it than dowel rods and we all give our birds paper they chew on (cage paper).

My problem (and it's me), Wood should be identified if going to be used for anything where children, pets, especially toddlers and birds have any access. The list of toxic woods is long. Environmental contamination is high. Keeping costs down leads to inferior and possibly dangerous short cuts. I don't expect this from Lowes, Home Depot etc. I ask if it's a hard or soft wood depending on what I am planning. Again this is me. If I were doing craft with no plans for child or pet access then no problem.
