okay now, using the myrtle..
do I have to sanitize it, and bake it?
Can I use it as is from the tree?
can he play in that tree outside?

Ha ha! I had safe food and wood lists in my phone for months until I had them memorized.

I would sanitize it and bake it. That kills bugs, larva, bacteria and beasties. Others may come along and tell you it's fine to let him play in the tree but I'm a paranoid Mom so I can't tell you that. I worry about wildlife being on the trees and my birds catching something. Our parrots aren't equipped with immunities like their wild cousins.

How is Roman treating you?

I plan on power washing any branches I get(I live right across the street from a car wash) then leaving them out in the sun, and/or leaving them in a hot car for a few hours. (Anything over 180F kills everything to my knowledge)

Never thought of my car as an oven hahah will the chemicals in the soaps not affect the branches, or the safety for the birds?

I wasn't going to use soap, just the super-powered hose :p But regular dish soap isn't an issue as long as you rinse it well, and even an apple cider vinegar/water solution is fine too. Just make sure you rinse and dry it well.
