I have a rehab umbrella cockatoo here. She has been here for months and she is terrified of people (so much so that I put her in a cage with a nest box so she could run and hide when I come in to feed). I have never heard her make a sound.... noy at the vets, not when afraid, not to the other birds, not when grooming, never... I thought she was just super shy, but today I saw her do something that has sparked concern and disgust... she will be going into the vet for confirmation of my fear. I watched on the close circuit camera today as she appeared to be screaming... so I ran to the aviart and quietly crept in and used a mirror around a corner to watch while I could listen.... I saw her scream over and over, but I heard.... NOTHING. Not a sound except what might havr been like a whisper. I ruled out all major health concerns whilr she was in quarantine. She does not have aspergilliosis, and the xray at thar.time should.have showed a tumour. She goes back in for a vet visit with Scott McDonald soon... I hope he can help me underatand why thia poor bird is voiceless....
