Devastating Snake / Bird

I saw a documentary a while back on TV about those spiders in Austrailia and beating the shoes each time before putting them on. I think I would have to wear sandals after seeing that and living in Austrailia. Heck, I would beat my shoes for weeks after watching that show. I hate spides, but have no issue with snakes as long as they aren't laying across my foot.

Urgh >< I won't kill spiders (most of the time), I just catch and put them outside, but I still don't like them. My sister had a freaking huntsman in her school bag and she was emptying it out onto her lap and the damn thing LANDED on her knee!! (We don't even know how it GOT in there!) I had to use a ruler to flick it across the room so we could kill the stupid thing [exception to rule - if it comes on me, or runs towards me, it dies >_>]. (She did very, very well to not react)

When it happened she was like "MUUUUUUUUUUMMMM!!!!"
"In a minute." *finishes playing her game*
Me: "I'LL KILL IT!"
Mum: *comes running with a jar* <-- She knows what I'm like when spiders invade my personal bubble, lol

Oh - and yeah, most of our shoes that stay outdoors are pluggers/thongs/flipflops. The only ones that aren't are gumboots, - but I spray that "6 month barrier surface spray" inside the boots :D (Call me paranoid >_>) Joggers are all kept inside, but you still beat them every morning out of habit and/or experience >_>

Anyone whether pet or guardian we will do everything possible to protect the ones we love.

The picture below just proves exactly what I have state above.

Dad had to drag our rather big German Rottweiler[1] away from a taipan once... he saw it and started barking, growling and gnashing his teeth. He was NOT impressed that dad dragged him away, but we would rather the dog be grumpy with us and alive then dead. =\ (Kept him inside the house until snake catcher rocked up)

[1] - If you've ever had to, you'll know this is no easy task

Antoinette-I am so sorry to hear about your friends. That would be devastating.
I agree with you-if any animal is a threat to my babies my pacifism goes out the window and that thing would die. A bird that I'd raised for 16 years would probably evoke very strong emotions as well and that thing would die if I thought there was the slightest chance I could save my bird's life.

And I am having very thankful thoughts that I live in a part of the country with very few snakes (or poisonous spiders, we have a few but they aren't very common and have reclusive habits).
