He wants to sit on my shoulder from time to time but I'm not really comfortable with it. That beak looks pretty darn sharp, even though he's been very gentle. It's like having a 2-year-old holding a pair of plate shears near your face.

oh yes it is like that. Just keep an eye out for any warnings and of course only let him on your shoulder if he's being good. He looks adorable in that picture giving your ear a good clean

That's Amazon loveys!

At some point you know....my Clark nestles in my eyebrow/eye socket with his head right next to my eyeball and I keep it open...at some point you just understand trust between each other.

When Amy is in her lovey mood, she does that also. Nibbles my ear, preens my brows or beard and beaks my cheek. That is her way of telling me "Thanks daddy for taking me along with you today" or " Don't worry dad, everything will be alright, you still have me and BB"
When she is in that mood, I trust her 200% and know she wouldn't harm me.

Such sweet stories!

Yeah, I can understand that feeling of mutual trust. I've had it with other animals, but it takes some time to gain, for both sides :) I feel that we have come a long way in these two weeks. He's been nibbling at my fingers when we're practicing handling but it's always very gentle which suprises me because I know that he's been biting until he's drawn blood earlier. I've been lucky so far! And of course, very aware of his mood.

How is Ebbe with his human? Just as sweet? He has found his favorite person in you..God I hope he continues to be as sweet as he is when he goes back home

He's very loud (ear shattering) and often rings a brass bell that they say he loves. He haven't done that here so far, I think that behaviour is caused by lack of stimulation.
If she treats him the way she has, he's going to start doing that again of course. I've written a list with amazons basic needs, right nutrition and so forth, that I hope she'll read and use if she wont let me rehome him.

be thankful you don't have glasses!

This was an average day for me

I actually sometimes do wear glasses, and we've had some discussions about this. He think they look very interesting. So does my shirt when he's on my shoulder.
I usually just say "no" in a strict voice and he stops, for a couple of seconds..

You need to study his body language, stickies in this forum by ‘boats’ are a must study!
He is a young male and if he has some difficult hormonal periods, he may unintentionally hurt you!

Thank you, I've read most of the "I love amazons" and it's very, very good. I only wish there was a guide with clips (films) of body language. I'm more of a visual learner and when I see a behaviour I remember it so much better than when I'm reading about it.

There's a lot of inconsistent information online about what age amazons reaches sexual maturity.
After asking the owner's son a bunch of questions about his previous home, we figured out that he should be at least twelve years old, and I'm wondering if it was his hormonal behaviour that got him rehomed in the first place. He was at that time eight years old.
I found out that the woman in the family was his favourite person and that the husband was working on their farm most of the time and didn't interact much with Ebbe. As soon as they were eating dinner, he tried to attack the husband and was very jealous. I've seen jealous tendencies in him when I've had visitors, but he mostly sat in his cage, not wanting to come out and was in a bad mood no matter how much I sweet talked him. And when I got a goodbye-kiss from the guy I'm seeing, he said "qweee" (noise he does when he's unpleased)

I also found out that he and the son in his new family were close at first but later on Ebbe got aggressive and biting him much harder than the nibbling he did earlier. I'm going to ask if this happened during spring or if he can see some other connection.

Ebbe could see your B.F. as an intruder, someone who is out to hurt his human and wants him to go away. Is this the first time Ebbe ever met/saw your BF?

They know each other from before, that's how I got involved in the whole situation. They have been kind of cool before, but Ebbe seems a bit on edge around him.
At what age did Amy hit puberty?
