Same here! If crows were smaller and not so savage, I'd totally offer my home to one as a pet. :)

I love these studies on crows! :D not too long ago, someone shared a video showing a crow with problem solving skills... They're pretty amazing.

Only just seen this. Chris packham did a series here in the uk something about in the minds of animals. Can't remember now but I DO remember this raven, completing puzzles. Also cockatoos doing locks etc, was a brilliant program, I loved it.

I obtained and hand reared a jackdaw and he was super cute. Came when called and was really tame. When I was out side all he wanted to do was be on me... Unfortunately this lead to his down fall. I got three letters of complaints about him, he'd land on anyone... Anyway, one day he was shot :'( not owned another one since.

He was free flown, never caged!!

But yes... Stunning birds!!

Aesop's moral was “Little by Little does the trick.” However, when Sarah Jelbert from the University of Auckland, confronted crows with variations on this problem the conclusion might be, “Corvus moneduloides are really f!@#$%* smart.”
<------- Love this article, it's written in my "language" lol! Very interesting too. I think most larger birds have the capacity for higher intelligence, but people just fail to recognize their talents. Think about it, no one is taking the time to *think* about how smart the crow was to figure out how to pry the lid off your trash can, all you're thinking about is chasing off the winged pest making a huge mess all over the sidewalk. I don't know where I saw the video, but they had side by side challenges between a crow and a kea (which are thought to be one of the smartest wild birds on earth). The crow completed the challenges just as easily as the kea.

A little off topic, but they can also mimic. I remember a few years ago, there was a crow at a local park that had picked up some rather 'colorful' language from the local bums who hung out there. The wildlife people had to come out and catch the animal and release it away from town because it was screaming profanities at the little children who also hung out at the park!

Crows can mimic speech :11:? Wow, didn't know there mouths and tongues are shaped for that. Interesting though!
