Craigslist Faith Renewed!!!!

The following ad appeared on my local Kijiji, and I am now friends with the lady who posted. She has 5 birds, and is not looking for anymore. She only posted this because there had been several ads asking for free large birds. One ad wanted the bird, cage, food, and for you to drop it off!
There are others who simply care about birds. Doesn't have to be a flipper. I try to use my common sense and give people the benefit of the doubt until I discover otherwise:)

For Those Looking For Free Parrots - Edmonton Birds for Sale - Kijiji Edmonton Canada.

The lady who posted this also has 5 birds, all rehomes and she isn't looking for more either. She actually joined my other parrot forum site and is now an active member. It's all about common sense and she really doesn't seem like that kind of person. She is an active member on the other parrot site I frequent now and is posting about her birds and all that. She's no a scammer or flipper. She simply posted this ad for informational purposes. She said that right in the ad. Who would reply to her ad wanting a bird? It's pretty anonymous on Craigslist and so people wouldn't know if this ad was the same person as a scam ad. I don't understand where you're coming from.

It's the offer to help with rehoming that could be "suss". You just need to scrutinize things to satisfy yourself that things are legitimate, that's all, I don't think anybody's casting aspersions, just saying you need to be careful because there are a lot of scammers online. We had one woman here pretend to have cancer and she was given a whole heap of money by people for "treatment" she never had. Kind-hearted people can be taken in by fraudsters. Most of the people I've dealt with have been genuine as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure the person you know online is too. Unfortunately there are some very dishonest people out there who'll try anything to make a buck out of others.

Well, that just killed my buzz about this. Such a positive thing made negative. Oh well.

Such a positive thing made negative.
Not really, if anybody thinks twice and doesn't take on a bird they are not equipped for, it'll be positive. It's never a bad idea disseminating information, regardless of how it might be interpreted.

The whole point of the ad was that, but people are sayin it's a scam or whatever. This lady just cares about birds, so why does it have to be a scam. Anything could be a scam if you're gonna think of it like that.

I think I'm the only one that said anything about a scam and I specifically said I am in no way saying that she is trying to scam anyone.
My point has been only that you simply cannot take everything at face value especially in places such as craigslist where people try to scam others regularly.
There's a reason you titled this thread "Craigslist Faith Renewed" and it's because CL has a well deserved reputation for being used by those with less than moral intentions. Anyone that understands that, shouldn't have any problem understanding that the bad guys will do and say whatever they can to make you believe they have good intentions, it's what they do and they do it well.

No, as megapixel has clarified, it was just a general warning to always consider carefully everything on the internet and on places like Craig's List. Sometimes (not this time) things aren't as they seem.

Personally, I've dealt with many genuine people on our equivalent of CL, so I don't believe that all sales sites are "full" of scammers but it is a good idea to always consider carefully everything, because there is no doubt that there are some very dishonest people out there, and you might be dealing with one. NOT this time...

Keep your buzz! :D
