I told him what is involved with their care and he is very serious. He wants a parrot and I tried steering him towards a cockatiel. He wants something more like Mango my YSA but does not have that kind of money. After looking online he thinks he might want a quaker parrot. How noisy are quakers and are they fairly easy birds?

I love my quaker (no she is not in my parrot list, she is going to live with a family member soon) . She can be a handfull but with lots of reading they are a fun bird to have. So I would say they are a great started bird. They can me noisy, not to bad through.

Quakers are illegal here in California so I've never seen one, but from what people have told me thy are amazing! Fantastic parrots who make excellent companions

I heard Quaker parrots can be nice birds but they are illegal in some states. Since your cousin is willing to put in the work and can learn from you the question is what personality is he looking for in a bird and how much can he spend on buying a bird and a cage?

We went to the bird store and handled a bunch of birds and it ended up being a little quaker parrot that went home with him. Bird took to him and was cuddling into him. I helped him set everything up and gave him the run down of all the do's and don'ts.

I will be going over in Saturday to check on the little guy but I have to say my cousin is very excited.
