How do I know if my Conure's beak is too long and needs to be trimmed, or do they ever need to be trimmed?

He is healthy, chews on a variety of toys and eats a variety of food, but it looks like its getting longer.

Right now it curves down and the tip is just below his chin area. Thanks for any recommendations.

Hi there!

If your bird is healthy, playing with toys, and eating properly, there should be no reason for you to have to get his beak trimmed. From what you describe it seems completely normal to me! You don't need to worry about it unless it gets distressingly long or the bird is showing difficulty eating, then you may want to take him to an avian vet to see if there may be an underlying medical issue.

Hope this helps!

I've never had to trim any of my parrots beaks. But sometimes something csn happen, or they don't have access to stuff to chew and keep it self trimmed
This is my GCC and her normal beak, sometimes the tip gets a little bit longer, then she must self file it
Parrots besk grind at night when hspoy snd content, this grinds the lower beak and keeps it in shape. A sick or stressed parrot may not grind, or if they've had an injury
