Every morning Finnigan sits on my shoulder while I make him breakfast (and my coffee) and heā€™s always patiently watched and waited until I offered my hand to bring him to his food. Today right as I finished pouring my coffee Fin flew down and tried to land on the edge of my cup. His foot slipped in and he freaked out and flew all around the house. I was finally able to grab him and run his foot under cold water. He had his foot tucked up and was standing on one leg for a few minutes but now he is eating and climbing around the cage using both feet like usual. It doesnā€™t seem to be red or blistering. I called the only avian vet near me and it keeps going to voicemail. Iā€™m not sure what signs to look for or how I should treat them if they show up! Iā€™m so worried about my baby [emoji24]

Unless the coffee was extremely hot, Finnigan's quick reflexes likely saved the day. Since he appears to be using the foot normally and not in apparent distress, all is likely well. That said, I'd monitor closely for changes of behavior and potential delayed reaction redness/blistering.

Thank you for the advice! I was able to find an online avian vet who was very helpful. He isnā€™t favoring one foot anymore and is being his normal playful self. All is well and now I know what to do if I ever have to deal with a serious burn. For the time being, Finnigan will no longer be joining me for morning coffee haha
