I think possibly been a bit of mis-communication here. What I meant in regards to taking that think is that with a 4 month old Grey you're already "exhausted" with him making noise. now true it's more extreme than usual vocalizing but he will make noise all his life, it's a simple fact and it's better to send them back sooner rather than later. You seemed to get the suggestion that I was telling you, you have to get rid of him which isn't what I said. I merely said if you're like that already then you do need to re-assess if you and him are compatible.
It also struck me initially like you clipped him because you wanted him grounded maybe I mis-read or something. I won't go on about expecting him to sit still for 8 hours, but if he wants to fly to and from his cage and stand then I don't see an issue, it's an important part of his psychological development so he can gain confidence and know that if he's scared of something he has the ability to get away. I know all too well about dangers of flighted birds, my second conure spooked and hit a wall breaking his neck killing him almost instantly so I do understand that for some birds it is better to clip them. either way he's clipped as it is, if you feel that's safest for him then there's no worry there many people have happy clipped birds, but please don't try to ground him permanently a nice glide across the room is something both you and he enjoy.
I will agree with anansi that he may have been weaned a little early and he's crying out for food or even just the comfort of you being around. He's like a human baby right now who either wants to be cuddled fed or even better both at the same time!
Hopefully you do stick around, I think there's been a lot of mis-understanding and overt defensiveness in this thread ending up with locking heads. You can see though the amount of wonderful threads here of people trying to help keep these parrot's life as good as possible, along with me trying to live my parrot based life vicariously through others!
