I have a green cheek that i have had for 5 years. I just moved out on my own and my second bedroom is being turned into a relaxation room with a couch and fish tank as well as plants. This also doubles as my birds sleeping room. I want to get some kind of bird that doesnt need attention because my bird gets all my time. But i think it would be nice for her to have other birds around for when im not home. What would you suggest?

Psittac, ALL birds need attention. It wouldn't be fair to shower all your attention onto your GCC and not any to the other bird. My advice would be to stick with the one that you have.

I was under the impression something like a finch had no interest in human contact

True, or a Canary. However you run the risk of having your GCC harassing him.

A pair of budgies, pair of bourkes or other grass parakeets... if kept in pairs they can be rather happy "alone" without human interaction.

Your green cheek may or may not be interested in them and could potentially cause them harm if he ever made contact with one of the other small birds... but there is no guarantee how your conure will react to having other birds in the home.

I have heard about birds attacking each other and I don't want to risk that so they will never be out of the cage the same time as my conure.

I'm away from home a lot and figured that my bird wouldn't feel quite as alone with some other birds around. I honestly don't know if it would help her feel as if there is company around or if it would irritate her with other birds making noise.

I do know that over the summer on rare occasions I would bring her to the screened window and let her listen to the birds outside, her contentment was obvious and she would start making noises to the birds and they would all quiet down and come see what was going on.

With that being said I don't know if the rare occasion would transfer into a daily thing.

Also I will not keep something that isn't completely content with little to no attention from me.

Another point is I don't want something that is going to irritate me, IE: waking me up early (petrie already does that, hence her own sleeping room), bothering the bird, or screaming at me while i'm relaxing in my extra bedroom. I like bird noises but we all know how they can get moody and drive you up the wall.

What do you guys think? Is there a bird that fits these needs? The most important thing is my peace and the peace of my bird.

I second with MonicaMc, two budgies. They'd have each other when playing with your GCC and they aren't really loud, just some little chattering here and there , or you could possibly set up a bird feeder outside your birds window so he could watch them go about.
