Two Cockatiels: Rascal (Geraldine) and his baby brother named Coconut!
I LOVE Coconut but he is making me have a whole new appreciation for how LAID BACK Rascal is that's for sure LOL

Coconut CONSTANTLY has ants in his pants... even when I exercise him and make him fly around the house several times throughout the day until he's panting with wings drooping he still doesn't get tired (he still won't stop running around everything!).

It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to get any work done unless I have Coconut inside the cage because he won't leave me alone LOL... he has TONS of energy!!! He looks a little "tired" in below photo (with droopy wings) after I made him fly around the house but don't let that fool you :p

Ah he is a darling, little cheeky chappie. Does he have his own fly suit yet?

Thanks you just reminded me I do need to buy him one... also need to replace Rascal's because it's looking a little too worn out :)

I have tremendous difficulty putting the diapered flightsuit on unless I shorten the looooong flight feathers (too difficult to pull the long wings through the hole otherwise). I don't want to do that yet on Coconut since he's still getting the hang of flying but I could start trying to get the harness on him instead since that doesn't have tiny holes for the wing area like the diapered flightsuit.

I would still LOVE to possibly get a GCC one day... will be interesting to see how I handle 3 birds... at least I have one super laid back tiel (Rascal) so that will help... it really feels like I only have ONE bird right now... I'm not counting Rascal since he's insanely EASY! ;)

Give 'nut a little time to settle down he really still is a baby and exploring and learning although it looks like he definitely has a different temperament to Rascal. :) I bet he will love it out flying.

So you're saying Coconut MIGHT calm down a little once he's no longer a baby? That would be nice... gives me something to be optimistic about haha ;)

Rascal was ALWAYS a super lazy laid back tiel even as a baby.... I think Rascal should win award for most laid back "lazy" bird on planet hehe. I have honestly NEVER seen such a laid back tiel before.

Perhaps it might be beneficial to try and get Rascal a little more active if he is a sitter?

Yes there is the possibility that 'Nut will quieten down.

Rascal won't get more active just because of Coconut... trust me on that one. Rascal STILL just SLEEPS all day long. He's always been like this. He's just a super duper laid back bird.

In fact, when I got a second tiel I was HOPING this new tiel would "liven" Rascal up... but nope ;) Rascal is very set in his ways. His favorite thing to is is just sit on my leg and preen/sleep as I work on lap top. He's also quiet as a mouse! haha

Hi, has Rascal had a check up lately? Rascal should be more active really as this much inactivity is not normal. There are 'chilled' birds but really the more sedentary they are the worse it is for them. Not wishing to alarm you but worth thinking about.

Thanks for your concern but I am not alarmed or worried about Rascal at all in the slightest. Again, he's just a super laid back bird who does prefer to sleep a LOT (like a dog really) and likes to just chill out (he NEVER plays with toys either... he's not into toys and he has TONS of various toys). He's always been like this and I got him when he was only 2 months of age. He is 4 yrs old now and in perfect health. I do make him fly several times a day so he gets cardio (I do same with Coconut)... so he does get a lot of exercise. Rascal is also EXTREMELY quiet (in mornings he sings for few minutes and at night little but otherwise he's quiet as a mouse)... unlike Coconut who sings a LOT. Rascal sings for less than 5 minutes in total in entire day. Every bird is different.

Coconut LOVES to play with toys... and of course is SUPER active always moving around like a nutcase.

He certainly might settle down a bit. Or a lot. But it might take a decade or two. Cookie used to be hell on wheels (wings?), but these days he doesn't do much of anything. But he's 25 now, so he's a very old man.

I love how laid back Rascal is and I know Coconut will never be as laid back as Rascal which is ok of course as it's fun having a more lively bird that actually does things!... but it will be interesting to see how Coconut evolves.. but I won't complain if he does settle down a bit I hope he does LOL :) Coconut is so crazy I have to put him in cage many times or else forget about it. I need to train him what things/places are off limit.

I think Coconut might be even more high energy than some GCCs... I have no idea because I've never had a GCC before...

This is Coconut's imitation of Rascal :p

Coconut happened to be blinking when I took this picture making him look half dead... no worries Coconut is fine... so is Rascal ;)
