Two Cockatiels: Rascal (Geraldine) and his baby brother named Coconut!
Coconut has developed a horrible screaming habit... he is out of control. He needs TONS of attention. He's screaming and screaming for attention all the time (they aren't loud screams but nevertheless extremely annoying). OMG. I never had this problem before with any bird.... he is INSANELY hyperactive... he is about 6 months old... you think he will "grow out of it" at least a little bit?

I'm home all day with him... he always just wants to play. I feel bad for him... Rascal never plays with him at all because Rascal prefers to just sleep all day.... he is annoyed by hyperactive Coconut LOL. I can't get any work done because he is always jumping on me all over my laptop... if I put him in cage he screams... it is the SCREAMING that is the issue. I make him fly a LOT several times a day to the point his wings droop and he's panting... but he won't get tired! After 5 min rest he's ready to go at it again! If I don't make him exercise it's much worse... thank goodness he's not clipped!

'Nut is a freakin handful! :34: I wonder if he had another playful bird around would he play with it???

Have you ever watched tag team wrestling?

Yes LOL

Miracle just happened... he's finally chilled out now in the cage playing with toys keeping himself busy. Pheeew!

He had better grow out of this though! Him being hyperactive is not the problem... it's his screaming! I LOVE it when he sings I wish he would sing all day long.. but when he whines and whines and screams after me... OMG it's bad.... it's become a habit he now does even when he's not in the cage!

Wow! Gee I don't think I have ever heard BB scream. He is quite vocal, but in a very sweet manner..words,whistles,his own little songs.

He didn't come out of his house today,I was in a very bad "funk" :( and he was just happy to bang and yell at his toys, and sing his little heart out.

I have an idea... let's switch birds! LOL

Thankfully they aren't loud screams (they aren't flock calls) that 'Nut does but rather that annoying scream they do when they want something. He also does it when he's sitting on my shoulder right into my freakin ear! I then say "NO!" in a mean firm voice and then he flys away as he hates it when I do that.

I really can't even imagine how bad things would be if he couldn't fly to get rid of energy... yikes! I've shut the door to all rooms I don't want him to fly into and he does circles around the house and then flys back onto the cage... he NEVER ever sits still... he is ALWAYS moving! Is this what GCCs are like?

Am I CRAZY to think if I had a GCC he would play with the GCC???

Hope your day is better and that you're out of that funk! :)

For some strange reason Coconut has been very well behaved past couple of days... sooooo weird. He's singing up a storm a lot instead of screaming his head off for me constantly. Thank goodness!!!!!

That is great news, hope it continues! Has anything in Coconut's environment changed?

Nothing in the environment to my knowledge has changed... might be because I had 'Nut out of cage more than Rascal that day....

I cannot wait until the day comes when I can have both of them out of the cage all the time... it's the fact that Coconut must be inside the cage if Rascal is out is what has caused him to develop a screaming habit...

I'm going to wait until Coconut is at least 1 year old... 6 more months to go before I dare to ever let them out of cage at same time. By then he will hopefully be more mature and will no longer fly into walls if he gets spooked! :(

I accidentally made a very loud noise couple weeks ago which made Coconut fly head first into the wall again! Thankfully, he was OK. Rascal would never do that... he's a lot more mature and can handle such things... hoping Coconut will eventually too you think? Since 'Nut is still very immature/inexperienced baby....
