I always have trouble getting poop of of the grate at the bottom of the cage. We have bird friendly disinfectant, but it doesn't work for poop. How do y'all do it?
well... I work in a shelter setting, what we do is put paper ON the grate, it keeps the poo off, and its alittle easyer on their feet when they want a hard surfice to walk on. but if we get poo on it, we ... well.. we have an industrial dish washer, we blast it with hot water, scrub then wash again.
What you might want to do is get a second grate and rotate them out, clean one, soak it if you have to over night then scrub, and during the next cleaning, just switch them out. (Bird poo is VARY hard to get off any kind of surfice)
I use vinegar and water mixed in a bottle and lay the grate out and spray it really good and let it set for a few minutes and then just wipe it off.....I usually don't get to much build up because I clean their cages all the time.....good luck.
I take the grate out and put it in the shower with water turned to its hottest setting. Leave it in the shower (curtain closed of course) for a solid 10 mins. Then wipe clean. Works for food they dropped on there and dried up too.

Spray it with vinegar and let it sit for a couple minutes, then it should wipe right off, it works miracles, I swear! I even had some of that "poop off" spray, I think it was called and it didn't work as well as vinegar. It's kind of funny, when I started working at petsmart I got sent to the store to buy the animals their fresh produce for the next few days and when I came back with a gallon jug of vinegar they looked at me funny, when I showed everyone how awesome it worked(and in my opinion, the less chemicals you have to use, the better), they stopped ordering their commercial cleaner and switched over to vinegar lol.
