Well I'm now the proud owner of a 7 month old b and g macaws leg. I guess that's about a 10th of him. I'll be going back to buy the other 9/10ths in 2 weeks time. Can't wait!
I was going to go and see several macaws until I found a really nice one but hit the jackpot on the first attempt. I went to see them last night, they don't know their gender. Had him snuggling up in my arms within a minute. The owner said she's never seen him look as happy as when I was making a fuss out of him. Fussed over him for nearly an hour then had to leave as they wanted to have their dinner.
Paid a deposit and told them I'd be back in two weeks to pick him up when I get paid. He was audibly upset when I left so he must like me.
Now it's time to go shopping for macaw toys, a playstand and other goodies. Including a good hoover.

Oh - you had me laughing out loud. (My co-workers must wonder what I'm doing...and I'm not telling them.) Congratulations. I wish they made a smaller B&G.

They do make a smaller and better version of the b & g. It's called a bluethroat :-)

I wasn't sure how big a bluethroat was/is. Yours though is so sweet and cute I'm not sure I could find one that cute and loveable and we are all spoiled by Zoe. :) But trust me...now I'm on the lookout for one.

Nah. Blue throats are MORE MISCHIEVOUS than ordinary B&G's...

A LOT MORE! :D

The ones I've met seem very shy and reserved. I found one for sale near me for same price as a b and g but wasn't a baby.

That's just to sucker you into taking them home! :D

Then they start disassmbling things...

Congrats on your new baby, and welcome to the wonderful world of Mush macs!

As someone told me when I first join this forum and adopted my Macaw. Congratulations you are in for a adventure.

Thanks. Here's a picture of him/her. I'm not sure which ones actually him. The owners couldn't remember.

Come to think of it I can see that my one is the one on the right. If you look closely the one on the left has a white nail and the one I went to see yesterday didn't.

Sounds absolutely meant to be. How exciting :) Congrats!

They are so adorable! All this talk of people bringing home macaws recently is making me want one. (No, no, no, two is enough! Must resist! ) You only have MBS if you have more than 3 right? [emoji12]

All these baby birds on the forum lately are just killing me lol. SOOOOOOOOO cute at that age:p

Congrats on your new macaw. I bet yours is the one on the left with the white toenail:) That one looks like he's saying "look at me!".

Well I've selected £340 of stuff to buy him.

I wanted to keep to a budget of £300 though and can't decide what to remove from my basket. What does everyone else think?

Squeeee! Those are absolutely adorable! We were thinking of getting one in the future if we do ok with our current baby. Please tell us how it goes when you get it home. I love macaws, they are so amazing :) Congrats!

You're gonna want an atom. They absolutely adore those things. Mine won't hardly get off hers.

Awww...beautiful! Keep us updated! I wish I could have a B & G! I have them vicariously through all you mac owners!

Re: New Cage or not

I can't decide weather to get them a new cage now or in a months time when they've settled in better. I'm getting a cage with them but it's only what I'd consider just about acceptable for a young macaw.
But do you think I'd be better of keeping him in his old cage for the first few weeks or stick him straight in a massive brand new cage.
