Bumble - Pacific (or Celestial) Parrotlet hatched 02/19/17
Bumble communicates with me a lot by giving me chirps. One or two tweets, sometimes a string of tweets when she's telling me off. Oh and little tiny peeps when I give her skritches.

But - I'm a big fan of an afternoon nap (or a morning nap, why discriminate haha!) and if I'm on the couch and she's in her cage, literally the moment I close my eyes she starts to sing. Tweet chirp and then all of these other lovely sounds that she doesn't make when I'm awake. It's a great way to fall asleep. And maybe its wishful thinking/drowsy imagination, but today I think I heard some kissing noises mixed in. And something a little like pretty bird.

So does anyone else's bird sing them to sleep? Why does she only do this when I'm about to nap? HOW DOES SHE KNOW I'M ABOUT TO GO TO SLEEP? And is this the cutest thing ever?

I can honestly say that nothing that comes out of the Rbird's beak is even vaguely melodic, not even his versions of J-Lo tunes. But I love it all (most of it) anyway.

And yes...

That *IS* the cutest thing... EVER!

That is so cute! We recently got a parrotlet at the rescue I've been working at and I think their chirpy noises are so sweet.

Bumble is young, I think it's adorable that she is learning your routines and sings songs that work for you! If you can go to sleep to your bird singing - I'd take it a a sign of a good fit :).

I have conures and am just grateful that they stop "singing" when it's bedtime - a sun conure cannot carry a tune I assure you!

There are several likely things going on. The direction I am going to tackle is contact calls and your napping.

It is more than possible that you are being provided a series of contact calls that are defining a safe World around you and sleep on, I got this covered. The important part is finding the warning tone that all is not well and your attention is needed.

May your naps be restful!

BumbleBird only hopes to be loved half as much as RickeyBird!

He IS loved. The little creep.

I was so touched I actually choked up. That little tiny darling standing watch over the area while you sleep. Just the picture in my mind makes me all warm and fuzzy and down-feathery.

It's l ike the old town crier. " 12 o'clock and all's wellllllll... "
