RIP Constantine: Jenday Conure
Con has suddenly acquired a vocabulary! She stunned me this morning with a very clear "Hello" followed by "hello pretty baby!" Not only that but she's been yelling "Hey!" at me constantly and I believe singing a line from the opening theme of TrueBlood. I'm just completely blown away! I'm guessing this is gonna be the extent of her vocab? Currently, she's making cute squeaking noises and mumbling hey and her song to me while getting ready for bed :)

Sorry about the pointless post but I just wanted to brag to people who would understand. My family is getting tired of me talking about "That Stupid Bird"

Well I think it is awesome and I hope my baby will have such great taste in TV :). I love me some True Blood :D

At first I thought she was squawking an Evanescence song until I changed my TrueBlood DVD then her chirps matched and I started laughing. That started her off onto her Heys and Hellos again lol

I've never met a Pionus but I hope yours sings the theme too :p It'd be cute

thats awesome i have heard of some conures speaking many words of course not all will but maybe yours is one of the super smart ones that will :)

I know what you mean about the people not understanding i have had that at so many times in my life. Birds are not my only love. I love all animals and people do get tired of hearing me talk about it. Thats why its nice to have places like this to come and share these things.

Rowdy still comes up with a new word, phrase or sentence here and there. But, I've had the impression that she at least knew what the words mean for a long time, and just was prompted to say them for a reason. She is probably the only bird I've had though that will say something completely off the wall and then never say it again.

And she has said some strange things over the years. Many years ago she went through a phase where she would say, "You go outside and play in the parking lot!" when she got angry with me. I have no idea where she got that! It had to have been TV. She said it several times over a period of a couple of months and I have never heard it again. That was a very weird and crazy long sentence.

Like your bird, when my BC started talking, she started talking! It went from nothing to all kinds of things all at once. She did also learn a new word or phrase up until her death, but the majority of what she learned to say was right away. At the end she was saying, "What's up, Bri?" That was her last new one.

And yes, forums are great for sharing our bird stories since our family and friends really don't care! Please keep sharing!

Wow! Super exciting! Congrats = )

Some conures are quite the talkers despite their reputation. Our GCC has been picking up a lot of new words/phrases (i.e.,Give me kiss, Hi Guava, Hey Baby, and Thank You). It's always super exciting to hear them say something new.

Well, Pete said something new today and he is probably closing in on 29 years old. About an hour ago he said, "Good boy."

Yay! I'm guessing he has a nice sized vocab already?

I do hope Con picks up more words. I want her to say "Hey Listen!" very clearly. If any of you have played Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, you know where that phrase comes from :p

I'll be taking Con to visit my parents this Saturday and would like her to say at least one word to them to prove how awesome she is. I know my dad will like her either way but my mom is scared of birds so she'll be hard to win over.

May as well change her name to Navi if that happens then, lol! ;)

No, actually Pete doesn't have that great of a vocabulary. So I was very pleased to hear him say something new.

But if I name her Navi, I'll want to whack her with my sword to shut her up :11:
I was just hoping she'd say it to my best friend cause she hates Navi xD
