Before anyone asks yes that's a wound on Charly's head. I believe it happened when the vet tech took her out of the cage they were keeping her in. It was a large outdoor cage made out of hog wire. She must have gotten spooked when the tech went in after her. Not to worry the vet (one of the best in the country) cleaned it and put some medication on it. She'll look as good as new in no time. More pictures to follow. Lab puppy pictures available on request. Almost forgot that's Auggie who came along for the ride and the nice sea breeze.

Lovely birds, that's exactly what I'm after eventually. I have the greenwing, maybe someday the blue and gold. How lucky they get to go to the beach though, they look so excited :)

Great picture! Looks like they had a good time :)

What a sweet picture! Love the view, and Auggie and Charlie must be LOVING it!!

Puppy pics....pretty please???? How's it going with the new puppy?? :D

What a beautiful pic!

They are just right in their element at the beach aren't they? A pair of beautiful beach bums:) Glad they enjoyed their day out! Kiwi can't wait until the nice weather returns, and we may even take him down to the coast this year (though we don't really have beaches per se in Orgeon).

Was going to take mine to the beach but he's recently decided he doesn't like his harness anymore. May I ask if there wings are clipped or have you got them very well trained?

I'm one of those who believe in clipping. My birds go every where with me, the beach, the parks, the Chinese restaurant, the hardware store, other people's houses ect. ect.. I'm very well known in my little town for going on long walks with my birds and my chocolate Lab.

I was considering clipping mines wings too. I want to take him everywhere with me too but he's becoming increasingly worse with the harness. I could try some sort of elasticated leg harness as he already has a leg ring to latch onto. He stays on my shoulder when were out and about anyway.

Was Charly visiting the Jupiter inlet, watching the boats?? In my photo album there's a picture of birds on a baby stroller, when I retire to FL Braxy will have a stroller!

Yes, that's the Jupiter inlet. We live in Tequesta about 2 miles from the inlet. We go there about 4 to 5 evenings a week. Another place we like to go is Carlin park.

Beautiful beach photo, your birds are stunning! Thanks for sharing!

I'm the same way, although my greenwing is recalled and my red lored was free flight trained. So those two no longer get clipped. Everyone else does...

And I LOVE getting them out and about. Birds were never meant to sit inside in cages all day. I love seeing things like this!!!

Were there any profound reactions to the big water?

No, not really. Auggie has been going to the beach since he was very young and I just got Charly last Friday but she was just fine.
