I will check with my daughter but I dont think we are concerned with money we just want the piece of mind that she is going to a good loving home with someone that is familiar with Macaws and their temperment.
She had a rough start to life and we want to make sure that she will be well taken care of and not taken buy someone that just wants to train and flip her for money
I only bird I have ever rehomed was because I had hand raised her and she did not have a bond with me and wanted to go to anyone but me! ( I guess bonding with mom was not her idea of a good bond) She is with a family member that got the bird, a brand new cage, toys and 3 months of food for free. The only thing I asked was that she would come back to me if it did not work out. No bird flipping here. My oldest bird is a TAG who I have had over 10 years. The only bird in my small flock that is not a rescue is my Parrotlet.
My birds see a vet at least once a year for a wellness check. I feed pellets and chop daily along with any bird safe thing I am eating. (Great diet plan! By the time every one gets a bite I normal have only half what I started with left!)
Every one gets lots of out time and at least ever other day showers. I am working with training them all so they have a happier life and my job is easier. My TAG will lay on his back and let me clip his toes with no toweling.
So I have lots of experience with macaws, as a teen I vol. with a zoo and as a adult I have started a small business doing mobile parrot grooming as well as my stained glass work. I do work at home so I am here all the time.
Hello please contact me My husband and I are looking to adopt and would love the chance to meet your Macaw to see if she likes us. We live in California as well and are willing to travel.
I hesitated in the rehoming process as i wanted to make thngs work here. Unfortunatley we are just not home enough and the poor bird does not get the attention she desires so much.
