cat bite! emergency.

that is good news. keep us all up to date!! we'll keep you in our thoughts.

Good news but something people need to know... Cats and dogs... If they scratch or bite your bird.. You need to act fast... The speed in which you get your bird the proper care will be the difference in keeping our bird alive and paying to have it put down....

If it acts ok... That's a birds defense mechanism..the flock will push out sick birds... No bird wants that... So a bird will act fine until it absolutely can't..., and then it's typically too late..

I know I'm repeating what many know... But it needs to be passed on to this who don't.....

I think that the important thing to remember here is that we all get our birds to a AVIAN VET ASAP when something unusual happens to our birds or in the case of injury. Time is of the essence in many cases and delaying treatment is the wrong thing to do. So DON'T WAIT AND SEE, instead act fast and get them to a avian vet before it is too late and time runs out. Better safe then sorry!

Just gave her the second injection! I did it, I can't believe it! She only bleed a smidgen. She's been fine all day. No labored breathing or shivering. I've checked her probably too much. Shes getting aggravated with me. But right now sleeping on my chest :) I've been keeping her warm and comfortable. I'm so do happy I listened to my gut, and you guys, and took her to Dr. Ricks. He's fantastic and I'm so happy he's close to my town.
I love her so much and this has been trying but it was a valuable lesson. I'm so lucky to still have her. I can't get that picture out of my head of a cat running at me with my baby in its mouth! It was unreal for a second. But we are going to pull completely through I know it. She is tough! I do hope she keeps her snuggly, loving personality with little or no skittishness. She does seem a bit right now but I think that's because I've prodded her more today checking on her.
I will update in the morning as well. Again, thank you all from me and Paisley. :)

I'm glad you listened to your gut instinct! Always question your vet no matter what!!! Sometimes they will offer you some good advice but sometimes they will offer you bad advice. I've owned enough animals and been to many vets to know better so I always question them no matter what. IF I had listened to my vet, my dog would still be sick with the parasite years ago, I did my own research and asked my vet to prescribe me the meds I want for my dog and that took care of it. Sometimes they only know so much about something and the meds they're told to use that would take care of something but it doesn't always work like they should. It's always a good thing to ask for second opinion on here as long as you rush them to the vet for a proper check up.

She's doing wonderful. Have her third shot this morning and I did great! No bleed! I'm just so darn happy. She's recovering emotional just fine as well. Still snuggly and lovey. And bunches of kisses. And eating a bunch with no shivering. I'm keeping it fairly warm inside.

This is great news! I'm so glad you were able to find a good Avian Vet!!

Wonderful indeed! Glad to hear she's doing great!!!

Just saw this today. I am so glad she is recovering. That was a close one. It really is scary that this happened and it wasn't even your cat. Well I am glad she is ok and you listened to your gut and found a new vet. Great job!

Paisley has one more round of oral antibiotics and she's got the all clear! The vet look rather surprised when I walked in this morning. I think he expected it to go either way! I guess I don't even realize how lucky I am. :) so thankful.

Good to hear how lucky you and Paisley were and I'm so thankful you got the second opinion and found an Avian Vet. Chances are good you would have lost your baby otherwise. Very happy for you!:)

I'm so glad that everything turned out good! God bless you can you sweet bird!!!
