Capn Jack, 11 week old male YNA
So we made the drive there and back and jack is successfully in his new cage! He is still a little clumsy so it's rather comical watching him move around his cage. I did a practice handfeeding, messed up a little but Jack knows what to do and I'll be good to go!!! He is absolutely gorgeous and loves his cage/toys! I'll keep posted for sure!

Now for the really important stuff: Welcome Home Captain Jack!!!

I know you will be teaching your new 'Staff' well in the days, weeks and months ahead! Understand that Human's are a bit slower than Amazons, so be kind, they do care and want to serve you well!

After all, Amazon's Rule!

I want to start target training, he's doing okay with step up, harness training, etc but he's not really eating or picking at anything. He's had formula yesterday evening, this morning, and tonight. I was able to give him some blueberries and he ate those but haven't seen him pick at anything in his cage so I cant really reward yet. Every morning he's getting squash, apple, blueberry, raspberry, kale, and banana offered and continue to have offered along with Zupreem fruity pellets, and nutriberries.

Oh, he's SO CUTE! Those baby brown eyes! I especially like the first pic. He's "blooming" for you. That's the word I made up for when my double yellowhead fluffed up his feathers, asking for a skritch. I'm sure Cap'n Jack is making the Amazon "feed me" noise in your general direction. :) So cute. Kizzy is weaning onto three kinds of pellets and a variety of vegetables, but I have started training her with chopped raw sunflower seeds, which she only gets for doing important things like going into her cage, harness training and target training. After she eats a few sunflower seeds, it often serves as a "jumpstart" and she eats some pellets, too. I chose to do that because as my first flighted bird, I felt I needed a way to bribe her into doing what I need for her to do. You're Cap'n Jack's daddy, so when he gets his first treats is your choice.

Along with Yoshi, Captain Jack will be Kizzy's "sibling." Kizzy is the oldest. She will be twelve weeks old tomorrow. :) Then Cap'n Jack and then Yoshi. We should throw a virtual birthday party when the May 2017 Amazons turn one year old in 2018. Until then, our work is cut out for us!

Congratulations!!!

BTW, do you know for sure he's a male? Just curious.

Thank you! Yes he makes the baby feed me noise all the time! So far as I can tell though, he hasn't picked at anything in his cage. he plays with the blueberries I give him in his mouth and then most of it goes all over his beak and under him. How do I get him more interested in pellet and eating real food? Maybe in morning give him like 20CC to kickstart his appetite and wait to try and see if he wants some nutriberry or vegetable on his own? That is awesome yes I have been following Kizzy story and it is great!!!! Virtual Bday party it is!!! He is DNA sexed male I have the certificate! He absolutely loves my shoulder! As I am writing this he has climbed up me and sitting quiet and content on my shoulder beak grinding
