Hey guys, I thought this would be the best spot for this post. I have been trying to purchase some Palm nuts for my birds to try and I can't find them anywhere! Not online or anything. Does anyone know of a source, or live somewhere that they grow or something? How do you get them anyway, in the shell? Are they hard/soft? (they look similar to chestnuts in the pictures I've seen) I can't even tell how large they are from the photos I've found online.
I'm also having trouble locating a good source of unshelled pine nuts. Everyone has them shelled but no luck finding them in the shell. My birds really used to love opening up these guys for the 'candy' inside. At least it seemed like it must be candy since they went so nuts over them.
Thanks!

I get mine here,

You can see the picture of them near the bottom of the page. Not sure about shipping tho.

My 2 CAGs love em, and can't wait to get them in the bowl. :D Reminds me I must go order some more.

There are some palm trees in the yard of the place I work at, I think I'll collect some take pics of them and saw them to you! ;)

Peta will you help me with recognizing? (I'm sure you will.... :D )

Flyte, I've never seen nor heard of a Palm Nut before ... I'll have to take a look.

There is a company in Denver, Colorado (unfortunately, not on-line, but they do ship) and I get my bulk, in-shell pine nuts from them. They also have certified-organic Red Palm Oil.

I can't seem to locate their e-mail address. Sorry. Happy shopping!

(Does Drs. Foster and Smith not sell pine nuts? ...thought they did, but I'm running late to work, so must make haste and get a move on for now ... ).

I'll certainly try. But yeah if you can get a pic that would be brilliant.

I'm sure Kodie will love them, He may not eat the nut but the meaty part will go down a treat I'm sure, and they are so good for them, Pikkie may even like them, :D (gotta think of my man here :07:)

awwwww, Pikkie --- Wilma, can we get another picture of him ---- PLEASE!!!

Already done Tex and just look at those feathers coming in.

I've never seen the nuts but I have some Red Palm Oil. It is made by Harrison's. It is called AVI X Sunshine Factor. You just had a drop or two on their pellets and they go crazy for it. Pepsi loves it.

I tried the Red Palm Oil on Bucc last time I ran out of Palm nuts, he looked at me with utter digust and just said "Yuk naaaaaaaaaaasty" He hadn't even tried it. When he did finally eat it he loved it but evertime I put it in he says the same thing. Little **********
:D :D :D :D :D

I couldn't get my hooligans to eat any Red Palm Oil (and, honestly, I didn't know the appropriate dosing). My dogs woofed it down but cats turned their nosed up at it.

I made a vegetarian rice and bean thingy and put a dollup of the Red Palm Oil in (for us humans to eat); it tasted so horried, I had to throw the whole thing out :( ...

:D :D :D :D Yeah its not the best tasting thing for us humans is it.

I know the dosing for the kind I have is 1 tsp for 1 pound of food. Don't think I would want to try it. :p
