Husband wanted an English Bulldog so over 5 years ago we adopted Canelo and he's my first and only EB. I've had dogs always however Canelo is the first dog that I had to regulate his food consumption AND put him on a weight loss plan. He wasn't a year old when he choked on a chicken breast and Husband and I had to perform a version of the heimlich procedure on him to save him. My fault, I didn't realize he would try to swallow the entire breast without chewing or tasting it.

Tonight I've been battling him. I have two pugs and fed them all earlier. I left the kitchen so Canelo bullied the other two and ate their food. I just fed the pugs again and had to chase him out of the kitchen so they can eat. Has anyone else had a dog that is such a bottomless pig? If so how did you manage them?

For Julie because I know she loves this pic! This is Canelo realizing something was new 20 minutes after Buddy first arrived at our home, lol!

Hahaha! That is my favorite :D! He's so funny there, he looks like a cartoon character.

When my next door neighbors go away for the weekend sometimes, I feed their dogs. They have 4, but only the beagle is like Canelo. But she is not too bad when she knows I'm watching. The other dogs take 30+ minutes to eat .

Sounds like Canelo needs to be put in a different room when the pugs eat. I still laugh at that chicken breast story, although at the time it was scary I'm sure.

Agreed! Chug eats the slowest, he enjoys his food. Canelo should have been named Hoover. I've tried feeding Canelo then putting him outside before I feed the pugs (Chug and Lola). He knows what's up so he stalls. But then both pugs love to take their time eating. I can't leave Canelo out for long with the summer temps, he over heats quickly so his kennel and his fan are key. I think I'll change the feeding order, Pugs first, then the pig, lol!!!

Cracking up about the Pugs and 'the pig' - you certainly have your hands full! :)

Oh Canelo, it's not nice to steal food:49:

My MIL has 2 cats, one of which is much larger than the other. They generally get along, but the bigger one has to be locked in the laundry room (they have a cat tower in there) during mealtimes so the poor smaller one can actually eat! Perhaps Canelo could go out in the yard or be put in a bedroom while the smaller dogs eat their meals?

This morning I fed Canelo and put him outside. This took a bit because he was looking at the pugs' bowls looking for the food. Out he goes, pugs get to eat and when they were done I let Canelo in who shot like a rocket into the kitchen to be greatly disappointed.

Here are some of his moments.

Got to get the Cheeto.

Another buffet moment. He now stays in his kennel, a lot!

Since that day he pulled her cage over he's been in his kennel a lot. If we leave the house all dogs are kenneled now, no free nap time on the couch. That day still bothers me. I'm glad she was safe but on Buzz's cage. I counted all her toes too, lol. You know why! Ever since your incident I've stayed on top of Venus respecting Buzz's and Buddy's space.
