Can perches & toys be recycled safely?

I purchased used cages for my parrots. We used a power washer on them, I used a bleach/water solution on the cages (every bar) and then washed them thoroughly with a hose and dried them carefully before bringing back to the parrots. Now - can I do the same thing with the wooden perches and toys that were in one of the used cages?

There's an awesome dragon wood perch in one that hangs from a chain on both sides . . . a large metal toy with a bell in it, a wooden ladder (MC can devour those quickly) and some other wooden toys that I somehow managed to accumulate from parts unknown. I figure the metal toy I can soak in bleach water or maybe run through the dishwasher even. Just don't know how to effectively sterilize wood or if it is even possible.

While my little guys love toys and I don't have that many - I don't want to risk their health either. I always made it a point to ask about the former occupant of the bird cage that was for sale (hopefully was given correct information there) but honestly can't remember where some of the wooden toys came from.

Thanks.

from what I've read it isn't a good idea to re-use wood products again, especially if you cannot verify the health or reason for the former parrot/bird died.

I would be worried about the wod too. But you could probably put the metal toy in the dishwasher on the highest setting.

Please do not miss drying of the wheels. I have known people to power wash cages and then the wheels get so rusty they will not turn. Photos please!!

To clarify, first cages came from experienced bird owners. One was a large portable cage used when cleaning the other cage. While their bird did pass away - he was well loved and under the care of a vet (the best in St. Louis). Cages were cleaned & disinfected by them prior to being put on the market - but they told me how to do it safely - and I did so again simply as a new bird owner.

The other cage (HQ Macaw size) came on the market when the owner of the parrot obtained a job in another state that began immediately. He took his beloved animals and one car full of items - and was going to purchase a new cage when he got there. His roommate sold it for him.

I bought a wooden bird stand (manzanita & java) that I did clean this same way - hopefully this sterilized it which is why I thought I could clean the perches the same way. I haven't read any answers with regard to that though.

I understand the thought behind drying the wheels. We are going to put in wooden floors (can't clean carpets any more!) - so will be looking to purchase new rolling casters for the cages & tree.
