We have a wild bird feeder at our house, and they always drop seeds and they sprout. It gave me the idea that I could sprout some for my Chika! But I don't know if she can have it... It's the songbird mix, I believe. What do you think?

If you go to a healthfood/natural food store, you can buy seeds to spout that are very inexpensive. A year's supply would be about 3 bucks and you can eat them too.
I would be nervous about the quality of the outdoor bird mix. I wouldn't be willing to feed it. However, even a bag of cheap parakeet seed will sprout if it isn't rotten. It won't contain much variety, but I wouldn't be AS afraid of it.
For me, it's the health food store. And I use sprouts on my sandwiches too.
