Can birds catch human colds?

I caught a cold on Saturday, nothing serious, but I don't want Poppy to catch it. I just feel bad not giving her scritches or anything because I'm worried she'll catch it. Will she?

The 'Common Cold' set of viruses target manals, but not birds! Yes you should take care to assure that you take normal care to washing hands and work to keep your Cold from your bird's area as you carry more than the Common Cold Virus.

As SailBoat said, the human cold virus is adapted to live in the human body; it is not transmissible to birds. So you are safe to give Poppy head scratches
