Umbrella Cockatoo: Cameo
Yeaterday I was determined to put the new cage I got for cameo together. It was very heavy and a lot of work just getting it into the house. I decided to assemble the cage with Cameo looking on from her play gym. I thought it would help in the transition from old to new cage. As I am putting the first few pieces together Cameo manages to come over and hop on to my shoulder for a closer look. I am looking at the instructions which is a joke but have a good idea on how to put together. Once I got the four walls together Cameo could not wait anymore. Up she went on her new cage exploring every inch of what was there. As I assembled the rest of her cage she was right there checking it all out. She kept giving her approval with her jibberish and nodding. There some new things to Cameos cage that I really love. She can`t open it. Ha1 Ha! Ha! Don`t need to padlock her in everynight. The seed catcher is also a big help although Cameo is a pig eating. Drops more food than she eats. When I finally finished and put the final perch and toys inside there was Cameo sitting inside hopping from perch to perch and checking out the new food and water bowls.
I THINK SHE LIKES IT !
This morning when I opened her cage to let her out, Cameo scurried to the top of the hook where a toy hangs. From there she does a summersault and yells "Woopi". I just about peed in my pants laughing so hard.

"Whoopi!" That put a smile on my face and gave me a laugh for the day! Sounds like Cameo approves of the new cage! :)

Oh! And we looooove pictures here! Would love to see a picture of Cameo's new pad!

Haha, adorable! Sounds like she does love her new cage. :D

Thanks for giving me my laugh for the day! I am glad Cameo likes the new cage!!

I will get some pics soon. I don`t think Cameo had many toys before I got her. I just bought a forage toy that spins a hole around to different treats and she has to figure out how to get the treats out. She spent a lot of time on this. The little pig. She likes to shred paper (My morning newspaper) so I`m taking one of your members sugestions and finding a phone book to shred up. If the draw strings to the blinds on my windows was a toy that would be the top of her list. I have another foraging toy on her play gym but she is not so interested in this one. I have to start making her toys or I will go broke. She is like my grand kids who have a million toys but never play with them. She has chewed up several perches so far and leaves the windows and woodwork alone. Thank God.

Egg cartons!! Seriously, all you need is an old egg carton, some string or yarn, newspaper, treats and a D-Ring. I cut mine in half, but for a U2, you could probably use an entire carton for one bird (our cages aren't big enough or Sugar would get a full carton).

Take the treats and the newspaper and ball the treats inside the paper. Place the balls in each egg divot (don't ask me what all these things are really called, I kind of make up my own language :54: ) and after you reach the desired number of filled divots, close the carton. The you take your string or yarn and wrap it around, essentially holding the carton closed. Then after you tie it in a knot, leaving on end long, you tie another knot that you pull tight around the D-ring and Wallah! You've got a cheap, homemade foraging toy! And one that they can shred completely apart.

I can't wait to see pictures of Cameo's new cage.
