Caique questions

Hi again all. Well the older Caique ended up getting purchased so we are currently waiting for a babie to come in. They are going to have white bellies and blacked capped. Is there any difference in the two species. Also I have been reading that it is best to buy a pair. Are there any owners on here who have had just one that could give some feed back. Also are there any cons to having a pair. Can you have one of each species. Same sex of course. Again thank you for advice. Just want to make sure we are getting as much information as possible.

A con to having a pair is they're less likely to be very interested in you / bond with you unless caged separately.

I have one bird, a little boy black headed caique. He is a bit of a moody bum, but i love him regardless. A bucket load of toys is essential and lots of attention. They love rough play so beware of the beakiness . I should be specific when i say attention, i mean when he wants attention lol, he can flip moods at the drop of a hat. One time he was on my shoulder acting all lovey dovey asking for scratches but as soon as i would touch him he would bite then laugh. The best toys are the ones that can be destroyed like balsa wood and bird safe leather. My little guy does errands with me to the shops and post office. He gets grumpy with me when i leave him alone for half a day. Lucky that only happens once a week.

He will have the poops with me when he discovers i am putting him in boarding for a month in August. I am lucky i managed to find a brilliant bird boarder to look after him.

I would love to maybe add another caique, maybe a boy orange headed caique, but at this stage one is quite expensive lol

yes they're right, having 2 is much better for their wallets. They always seem to forget the latter half of that sentence. You'll be fine with just the one providing you can offer up some good attention and teach some independent play.

As for any differences I don't believe there are outside of their feathers so go with whichever you get on with the best
