Cages~

Good on you than for thinking smart :)!

Well as you know, I'm free, Andrea free, and I'm sure many others are free to answer any questions and hopefully you can find a breeder on that site that I gave you.

I got to cuddle with my conure today :) Her name is Lucy ^^ she responds to it every time, She was fed and then i played with her for a little while and she curled up under my chin and walked around cuddled up in my hand while i perused for toys <3 I loooove conures! ^^ My boyfriend got bit by a Lory... I couldn't help but laugh LOL YAAAY CONURE CLUB! haha and yes Darkling, holy fuzz... it's how i censor myself lol

That cage linked to on ebay in Atwee921's post is what I have for Penelope, my Quaker, and it's a fantastic cage. The seller also ships really fast and free shipping is win. The cage is really easy to put together, sturdy, easy to clean and wheel around, big, and has a nice shelf inside. Easily one of the best cages I've seen in that size category, especially for the price.

Wow nice to hear you say that.... I was planning on getting that cage but then found another with a seed guard but I could probably make my own.... Did you get the 129.99 dollar one with the shelf and ladder inside? Im not sure if I should get it with or without the shelf. What do you think?
Also it seems like the grate is really close to the tray.... is that true??

The ebay cage is nearly identical to the cage I'm getting from Amazon.

I liked the ladders and whatnot because it meant more stuff to play with inside!

I would rather have one with a seed guard but I can't find one that I consider big enough inside with small enough bar spacing to prevent injury/escape. I may just make my own seed guard.

So you are getting a new parrot right away?

Not for another month at least.

Oh I see. Good luck with your search.

They had the $119 one with the shelf and ladder when I bought it. Penelope likes the shelf and is always running around on it, but she barely uses the bottom half of her cage, so the ladder is mostly ignored. The grate is close to the top of the tray, but the tray is pretty deep. I don't have a seed guard, because I just have a really large plastic floor guard (like for office chairs to roll on) under the cage, and that catches most of everything and I vacuum about every other day. I'm sure you could find one or make one pretty easily. The other nice part is that the whole cage is a separate piece from the wheeled base(it's secure, but hassle free to de-attach), and the whole thing is really easy to clean. I got the white one, and poop just wipes off with a damp paper towel.

It does come in pieces, but it's hella easy to assemble (I'm totally DIY challenged and I put it together in under an hour, and that was with a 15 minute conversation with my neighbor and a Britney Spears dance breakout session distracting me). Also, I've dealt with several flight cages that need assembly, and this one feels almost like a solid cage when put together. Also, the wheels are really good and not wobbly, so it's really easy and smooth to move. The door is also really nice and big, and the lock is attached in such a way that it is impossible for the bird's beak to grasp it to open it because of thick support bars (a necessity for Penelope, because she likes locks and opened her old cage).

Also, I've dealt with a bunch of ebay sellers, and that one is really good. I have a wonky street address involving a 1/2, and her shipper had a hard time finding it, so she sent me daily emails checking to see if I had gotten it yet and stuff. Plus it got to me in three days. With free shipping. It was total win.

For small to mid-small birds, that is easily one of the best, cheap cages I've come across (and I did a lot of cage shopping for Penelope and with other friends with birds). I probably wouldn't put something like a Severe Macaw or a Caique in it, but it's great for Pionus, Senegals, Conures, Quakers, Ringnecks, Tiels, or really anything smaller that you don't mind getting lost in a giant cage.

Darkling I felt the same way, I really wanted a seed guard but I want maximum living space so im getting a tidy seed feeder, seeing how that goes and if theres still mess im gonna make a seed guard.
Banality Bob, wow, I have done a lot of shopping too and now im definitely going with that cage!! Thanks :)
