Cage size for Green Cheek Conures?

Hi! I'm getting a Greek Cheek Conure in a few weeks and I was wondering whats a good cage size for it?
Since I'm homeschooled, my bird will be out of the cage for the majority of the day. I'm sure that the only time I'll put it in its cage will be when I leave and for bedtime. If it's important, whenever I do leave the house with my parents I only leave for about one - four hours on average.
Also, I have a few other questions.

1. What should my birds diet be?
2. I know there are certain materials and foods I should be avoiding, however I don't know what these foods and materials are. Can I know them please?

Congratulations crazy! Green cheeks are lovely pets. A lot of work, but worth the time if you can put it in.

1. They live to be 25, so just because you can spend that much time with it now doesn't mean you will be able to 10 years from now. The general rule with cages, which I absolutely believe, is that you should get the BIGGEST cage you can possibly afford, given that the BAR SPACING is not too large. For a green cheeck, generally 1/2 bar spacing is really good, and some people say that 5/8 is alright, but on the bigger side of things.

2. Bird's diet should be mostly pellets, substituted with fresh fruits, foods that you eat, and some good seeds. The actual ratio varies, but generally I leave my fids a full tray of pellets, and then give them whatever I'm eating. Be sure to avoid the poisions, such as coffee, alcohol, avocado, chocolate ect. (there are more extensive lists out there).

3. Teflon is the biggest one, along with anything electric. Most parrot owners feel that you should not just not use tefolon, but get rid of all pots and pans with it. A lot of questions like this have been asked before, take a look around the forum and the web for more information!
