Hello,
We are picking up our first parrot (a male 9 week old cinnamon turquoise GCC) next weekend. I have heard that you should not touch or handle the new bird for a week after first bringing it home. I have two cages set up, a daytime play cage and a nighttime sleeping cage. These cages are on different levels of the house. Since we shouldn’t touch the bird for the first week, should I just wait to incorporate the sleeping cage until after the week and just leave him in the daytime cage for now, or would it be alright to only handle him to switch him from cage to cage in the morning/night?
Also, I have heard conflicting information about where the daytime cage should be kept. Some sources say that it should be kept in the busiest room of the house (which is where we have it right now) and others say it should be kept in a room that is frequented, but not too busy. What do you all think?
