When I do get my bird, I am confused about where to put the cage.

Everyone says put it in the most active room of the house. The only spot I have for a cage in the most active room is right in front of a big window. Would this be suitable or no?

My original plan was to have the cage in the bedroom and then put a window perch in the window of the main room and a big gym next to the couch in the main room. Since I plan on having my bird out pretty much whenever I am home and not sleeping, I figure it will be in the main room anyway, just not in its cage.

So should I put the cage in the main room as well as a stand or just go with my original plan? :D

I have Cosmos cage in front of a window and he loves it. He sits on top of the cage mostly and likes looking out and then on the other side of the room I have a stand for him, and then a sleep cage in my bedroom, since I stay up late I figured he would get a more rested sleep that way. I also have a small stand in the bathroom so he can hang there while I shower and get dressed.
I made several portable stands with pvc and they work great too for going from room to room. My whole house has gone to the birds...lol

Oh gosh, I have a feeling mine will too! I plan on putting a stand by the couch, one in the window, having a tabletop one for the table/kitchen, and one in the bathroom, with his cage in the bedroom. Then he'll have another outdoor cage. Hehehehe

I have heard that putting cages by the window causes them to get overheated. Any truth to this?

I can't tell a difference.. but we have double paned windows so maybe that helps . plus, when the sun blasts through in the evening I just close the blinds. And now that it is summer and getting smoking hot we keep the house pretty cool so I haven't noticed being to warm next to the window.
