...which do you have?
What are your notable differences?
Why did you choose your subspecies?

I'd like to help, but I just got mine, lol!

My understanding is that they are very similar in behavior and talking ability. I did do quite a bit of reading about greys in the last few months. Before I got Pete the zon, I was hoping to be offered a Grey. Now I'm lucky enough to have both of them:)

I know the Timnehs were initially overlooked by a lot of folks because they aren't as brightly colored. But, they are a bit smaller and their owners seem to think they are just as nice as the Congos. I bet you would be happy with either.

Hopefully some long time owners can chime in here and help.

I didn't really choose my CAG for a particular reason.Ive always heard the intelligence is the same and the only things different are the coloring and size.I picked Pearl because she was the bird that really clicked with me and the family.

From what i've heard timneh's are more nervous and tend to be a bit twitchier and have more problems with plucking than CAGs. Since they both have issues, im not that sure how much more of an issue it is.

Honestly our grey chose us, and just happened to have a pretty red tail.

I love my CAGs Both picked me. There is a Tag at my bird store but she doesn't seem to like me the way mine do. My guys are like real children both between 5 and 6 but very different personality's. Buddy love me and only me hes bold and fearless funny and a very good talker Marty is sweet and timid but lovable. They don't play together yet but will both hang out on the java tree at the same time. They have different favorite foods and toys although both love to shred the weekly adds I roll up and fold threw their cages. My suggestion would be to check out a few rescues or pet stores and see who you have the best connection with. Good luck keep us posted.

i dont have one but i have heard that timmehs tend have less mood swings and are more timmid, hope this helps and good luck with your choice:D!

I have a CAG and I got him because I have always wanted one. I finally convinced my husband to go look at a clutch of them a breeder had and Piper was the sweetest one. I've heard that CAG's are better talkers but I couldn't tell you if they are or not .... I've never had a TAG and Piper is still a baby and just now starting to put his words together. Either way, they are both so adorable :)

Wow. Everything I've read said it was the other way around. That's why, after some research, I decided to get a TAG rather than a CAG. Timneh's are a bit less neurotic, more easy-going, LESS likely to have plucking problems.

:confused::)
