I brought Buzz home in April 2016 and since he's been here, he has been a hard nut to crack. No touching allowed, he will happily take food from me, whistles, chats, he's our morning alarm because he's up as soon as the sun is up. Last week I was gone helping family out with an emergency and upon returning he was very standoffish. Venus was on my shoulder in a heartbeat lol.
So I moved Buzz's cage right next to my chair in the livingroom. This puts him no more than 3.5 feet away from me. For him to eat he has to come by me and it is working. Basically my thought with this is he close to me so he has to do things like eat, drink, forage and play close to me so he should get use to doing these things in close proximity to a human and help him relax.
So far so good. He loves the whistle game where we whistle back and forth, most of the time he's repeating me and loves to try repeating new patterns. He also loves new toys. My point, he's progressing very, very, very slowly but it's progress. For any new parront, patience is so important and it pays off.
