Amazon Red Lored - Maggie
Hello everyone! I'm wanting to build my amazon a playgym of some sort.. I was thinking about probably doing PVC since it seems easiest for me at the moment (and cheap!) I'm not the most handy person in the world, though I'm not awful either so I'm pretty sure I can figure something nice out.

I know I really want to make something that incorporates a boing (or other rope/climbing thing) in some way and someplace to hang a couple toys. i don't want it to have too much going on though because my bird gets overwhelmed/scared easily.

I've been searching the internet but haven't had too much luck.. I've found a couple pictures (one with instructions) but I haven't been too successful.. which is why I've come to you all for some help!

I'm basically just looking for pictures or plans of some kind, I need some sort of guide to go off of otherwise I'll just mess everything up.. haha!

I literally just got making the one in the link--still sweaty--except bigger. Use 3/4 inch pvc and connectors instead and it's easy enough to cut with a hand saw. Except at one end at the top put a 3-sided elbow connector & add another piece of pvc, somewhat shorter and make an upside down L shape from there with a shorter piece and another elbow connector. Cap off all loose ends. Hang toys from there or you can do the same from the other side & make it a two tiered play stand with a few adjustments to hang a boing from.

I made a similar one but at the top on the ends, I added an upside down "L" and then added an eye hook to hang toys from

My husband made a plygym from applewood....it is nothing fancy but I think he did a great job...all the birds love it and don't even try to get off of it....He made it out of scrap stuff he had laying around....the most it cost us out of pocket was thirty dollars...stainless steal screws and eye hooks are expensive. LOL
Here is a picture...hope it helps get your creative juices flowing....oh and sense the picture, we have added a boing

I made a playgym two or so months ago. I bought a plastic storage bin and lid, 10 feet of PVC, some sisal rope, and then I used a dogwood branch. That way my birdy had different textures and widths on the gym instead of just the PVC. I built a rectangular base, then built two T stands of different heights on the shorter sides of the base. I tied the branch across the top of the T's and then the sisal rope went from the branch to the bottom. It was super easy and took less than an hour to put together. If you use PVC, you should score the places the bird will stand with scissors or a knife in random directions. My conure slipped off when I first put her on.
I have a video showing it on YouTube.
