I'm learning but I also make mistakes. My budgie flew into the living room and one of her wings kind of broke. I saw some blood so I called the avian vet. She told me to desinfect that part with peroxide 3% and then stopped the blood with silver nitrate pencil. I tried to do that but as she moves so much some peroxide got into her eyes and her eyes began to swell until she couldn't open them.after the moment of shock I rinse her eyes with water.I called the vet but she didn't reply so I call another vet, she told me to wash her eyes with chamomile. Could the peroxide have damaged my budgie's eyes? Around 1 minute or 2 she opened her eyes but were swollen. The avian is coming this morning. Any comment, links, suggestion are welcome. I only found one case on yahoo of a bird who got peroxide in its eyes. Thank you

Budgie after rinsing eyes with chamomile

Oh the poor little thing... since you used the chamomile, i would lightly mist around her eyes once every 20 min or so. The idea is to flush the peroxide out of her eyes, and not fill her ear canal up. But by all means do what the vet says - the Avian Vet.
Sorry your lil budgie got messed up

Peroxide commonly sold is fairly weak, but eyes are extremely sensitive. Hopefully there is nothing more than an irritation that will heal quickly, but a visit with an avian vet is best.

Do you think a wing is actually broken, or did you mean she lost control while flying?

I would use plain sterile saline from the drug store to flush the eye with personally. It's buffered and made to be used in eyes, as sometimes just plain water can make the eye more irritated.

You say her wing broke, but do you mean a flight feather? If it's a broken wing she'd need to get to the vet immediately. If it's just a broken feather, she might still need to see the vet unless the feather has already been removed or your vet has given you other instructions for the time being.

The vet left around 3 hours ago,two feathers were broken, one on the right and another on the left. She took them out. She also clean her eyes. The vet introduce the new budgie who was diagnosed with depression, to Ibi but it wasn't the most nice first meet. They are both in their cages, one in front of the other. I hope they become friends

Thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear your budgie was seen by a vet. Poor baby, she had a rough couple of days. Now that the broken feathers have been removed and her eyes have been flushed thoroughly, she should recover quickly.
