U2-Poppy(Poppy lives with her new mommy, Misty now) CAG-Jack, YNA, Bingo, Budgie-Piper, Cockatiel-Sweet Pea Quakers-Harry, Sammy, Wilson ***Zeke (quaker) Twinkle (budgie) forever in our hearts
A couple of months ago I put my budgies, Piper and Twinkle in seperate cages due to a bullying issue. Their cages were side by side, but that wasn't close enough to make them happy. Yesterday I gave the bigger cage a makeover and put them back together so they could try again.

Sweet Pea watched the entire process from the top of the cage, she suffers from cage envy and bossiness. The last photo is Piper and Twinkle looking happy to share a cage again. I hope it lasts.

Wow, what a fabulous mansion that Piper and Twinkle have! I so love to see budgies in a large cage where they have so much room:) Where did you get that cage?
They look so happy to be back together, hopefully absence made their hearts grow fonder:)

They do look happy to be together again:) I love Sweet Pea looking on in envy... I bet her cage is just as awesome but since it is hers the budgie one looks better:rolleyes:

Thats a HUGE cage for budgies! Looks great too! You now officially have the most spooled budgies ever:D

Shhh! Don't tell them how spoiled they are.

I thought dogs had jealousy issues, but parrots take it up a level. Sweet Pea wants everything for herself, especially toys.

Terry, the cage is an A & E, it's about eight years old. I have a smaller one, same company, same design, years newer, but not the same quality, I like the older one a lot better. Well keep the smaller one for emergencies or Sweet Pea can use it for a play house.

That cage is fabulous! What spoiled lucky babies you have!! :) If you don't mind me asking, where do you find A&E cages?

Your babies are adorable, and look so happy being back together! I love your tiel! They are Awesome birds!

Aww, thank you so much birdlover! The tiel, Little Sweet Pea was a mess with a mangled wing when she came to me, sort of by default. She's a darling girl and full of personality. You would adore my rotten quakers.

If you go to Amazon's website and type in A & E cages, you will find an excellent assortment of sizes, prices and designs to choose from.

I love how sweet Piper and Twinkle look together! You're right, the definitely seem pleased to be back together once again. I hope that they can continue a happy friendship in their new mansion :)

And Sweet Pea reminds me of Shiko with her cage envy and jealousy! Shiko has a larger cage than Avery, and because of its size it can fit more toys. But nope, doesn't matter... he's always flying onto to hers and trying to get at her toys because they aren't his. Birds definitely bring jealousy up another notch

Piper and Twinkle are both females, Piper is bigger and she was picking on Twinkle and not letting her eat. I thought the new cage set up might help, and they hated being separated. Hopefully they can live peacefully in the same cage.

Haha, Shiko has the same attitude as Sweet Pea. Sweet Pea's cage has twice the space as Piper and Twinkle's and a lot more toys. Sweet Pea is very nosy, if any of her flock mates gets something new, Sweet Pea wants it.

birdlover, I have two quakers, Harry (for Houdini) a female , and Zeke an eight year old male. We don't know much about Harry's past, not even her age. She's been with us for a year and several months. We've had Zeke for a little over a year.

Allee, it sounds as if your babies have a wonderful home to live in. I Love hearing about all of their different personalities. We used to have two budgies in a cage together, and the female was way more dominate over the male. She wouldn't let him eat if she was, or get close to any of the toys, yet at other times, they would set and preen & kiss each other. It was definitely a passive aggressive relationship.

Do either of your Quakers talk? Does Sweet Pea?

Passive aggressive is an apt description of Piper and Twinkle's relationship.

Three of my bird's talk. Harry is an enigma, even for a quaker. She had an extensive vocabulary when she moved in, and she adds new words, phrases and sounds constantly. I've known several talking parrots, but Harry's language skills are astounding. We know more about our male quaker's background, we were told he couldn't talk, but he could say a few things and he's picked up a lot of Harry's noises. Honestly, Harry seldom stops talking when she's awake, and I'm pretty sure I've heard her talk in her sleep. Her current favorite phrases are, Be A Good Boy, You're Wearing Me Out, Give Up, Peek-A-Boo, Thank you, and Can't You Fly. She calls the dogs, chunks food at them, laughs at them, and barks with them. She shares a room with Popeye, our U2, she's taught him a few noises, they cry together like babies, meow together, and quack. We don't have babies, cats, or ducks. She calls me Cameron for reasons I'll never know. Popeye and Harry are buddies, they scream if they can't see each other. Zeke adopted Sweet Pea as soon as he met her. Their cages are side by side and they play together every day. So far Sweet Pea has learned to wolf whistle and she tries to mimic the talking birds, but she hasn't said a human word yet.

Never say anything around Kiwi that you don't want him to repeat.

Allee or should that be Cameron......... I just love this. I cracked up when reading it. :D

What a fabulous mansion for your fabulous birdies. I love hearing your stories about them all.

Allee, ( or Cameron LOL [emoji23] ) this is Soooo funny. It doesn't sound like there is a dull moment at your house. Your Quaker's vocabulary sounds astounding. I don't really have to worry about 'what' gets said so much around Kiwi, as I do 'how' it gets said. My daughter and her patience skills, are running thin sometimes.

I used to have a Quaker years ago, that had an outstanding vocabulary. I would sneak away at work, and call him on the phone! haha, he would hear me talking to him over our answering machine, and normally by the time we were getting home, he would be trying to say or put together, what it was, I was trying to teach him. Man, did I feel stupid when my secretary walked in on me during one of those phone calls. His name was Rocky, and I was devastated when he died. He would literally answer your questions. We would ask him: Rocky, are those birdies outside as cute as you? He would say No Way. We had an aquarium at the time and he would say: Rocky, how many fishies we got? One, two, three, four fishies. He sang Happy Birthday, Old McDonald, itsy bitsy spider ( see a pattern? My daughter was younger lol ) I tried to sit down and write everything he could say, and it was unbelievable.

Thanks Amanda and aether-drifter! It burns me up to see a bird in a tiny cage, especially the little ones that pet stores push off on new owners for the smaller species. I understand space and budget limits but...

birdlover, I'm sorry for your loss of Rocky. He must have been wonderful. Counting the fishies, how adorable. I totally understand why you chose another quaker. I knew very little about the species before I brought Harry home. One of the first things I read, was quakers are illegal in some states. I remember my husband asking me, "Could you have found a more obnoxious creature to bring home?" I told him I didn't think so.

I don't know who Cameron was to Harry, but the first time she screamed his name, I had just given her a prescribed aloe mist bath, she hated it, we had progressed to liquid meds from a syringe and by then she was outraged. She ran across her cage top and screamed, Cammmrunnnn. It broke my heart. She never stopped yelling for him, a few months later she started calling me, Cameron.

One of Harry's funniest performances happened last winter. She solicits conversation with everyone. A DTV repairman was working on the TV. Harry was being adorable and showing off and the guy was fascinated by her, right up until he switched the channel to Sponge Bob. Harry had a fit and made some terrible accusations to the poor guy. All I could do was stand there and look silly. The names she called him were spoken too clearly to be mistaken. Ironically, he had just told me he had never heard a bird talk. Well, there ya' go.

Ah, Allee! I love the budgies' new digs! The setup is sweet!

And I'm also very much enjoying your birdy stories. Keep them coming, "Cameron"!

Holy cow- I can't show that cage to my budgies- they'll think I'm neglecting them [emoji33][emoji33] I hope Piper and Twinkle can behave themselves --they do look happy to be back together!!!

I'm LMAO at Harry accusing the cable guy for unspeakable things for changing the channel- to SPONGEBOB of all things...no wonder she was mad [emoji6] :p
