Tonight both Venus and Buddy's cages were open. I had Venus on my shoulder and we were sitting in my chair. Buddy flew over and joined us, both were well behaved, respected each other. Yes there is jealousy, Buddy was throwing all sounds possible, I got lots of kisses from Buddy.

I put them both in their cages, left the cages open, Buddy went to his favorite perch in his cage. He likes to be in his cage. Venus came out of her cage, she loves being out. She then proceeded to hop over to Buddy's cage, and enter his cage. Buddy starts crying and goes around the cage to avoid Venus, and as he's exiting the cage, Venus goes in his cage, closes the door COMPLETELY, Buddy flies to me, Venus goes to Buddy's favorite perch and has just taken over his cage. So yes Husband and I cracking up over this but at the same time this is going to be an issue and I'm going to have to address it. Venus did this earlier this week too and I had to get a towel to get her out of Buddy's cage. When I feed them, I close Buddy's cage to keep Venus out, she's definitely the dominate one.

Is it typical for birds to visit or take over other's cages?

Oh that is funny! Griffin also tries to "take over" the cages of others :), but as Raven is older now, he's gotten a lot better at standing up for himself in his own home! He loves Griffin, but he won't let him take advantage of him anymore lol! I also suspect that it was Robin who bit Griffin's toenail off when he tried to take over Robin's cage as well.

I agree though, some intervention has to be done if she keeps doing this. Might take some time to station train her, that is if you're against clipping her. It's funny and interesting to watch their individual personalities.

She's clipped right now and I think that has helped a lot with her but she is a dare devil for sure. I have been thinking about clipping her when it's time again because she is still learning. I was surprised when I toweled her earlier this week, she didn't move just let me wrap her and pick her up. Usually she tries to bite because she doesn't want to come out. Show Buddy a towel and he starts running and crying.

So Griffin's entire toenail was gone? I remember when that happened but WOW!!! If Raven removed his toenail that was a serious lesson!

Yep, it's gone. It wasn't Raven I don't THINK, since they're bonded buddies. Also, the way in which it was damaged, looking back I'm sure it was a bite wound and not caught in a toy. I suspect Robin. When Griffin would fly to Robin's cage he'd go right inside and antagonize Robin . He'd do a hostile home invasion! He's clipped now (but can still fly slow and short distance) and I have to admit he's a MUCH nicer boy toward me. Biting is SO much less now and easy to manage. I don't want to change the subject to this controversial one, so to answer your question... No I don't think it's going to grow back. I know nails normally grow slow, but I would think it would have at least grown out a tiny bit by now? His outside back toe looks like an ugly gray worm now with a pinkish scar lol. The rest of him is adorable though!

Tiki boots Pippin from his cage every day, several times a day. I don't think she particularly LIKES Pippins cage; she's just a bully and likes to make sure Pippin doesn't forget who is in charge. :green2::white1:
