Bubbles in poop

I dont remember if i had addressed this before or not. Rio sometimes has bubbles in her poop. It's not all the time, but it does happen. So is this something to be of great concern. I forgot to ask the vet and she did one right there in his presence, but no bubbles so I forgot to ask. Could it just be gas?

Merlin has it sometimes too. They tend to be his real stinkers, so I'm guessing it's gas. Never thought to worry about it!

On one site it said it could be gas or an infection. I have never notice an odor from her poops. The bubbles just happen. Her poop changes through out the day depending on what I feed too. Too many carrots, orange poop. But it always goes back to normal. Sometimes it's a little watery but I fed fruit, or she took a bath, always goes back to normal. Now bubbles, I have seen bubble every now and then since I've had her, feel like a dummy for not asking the vet.

You are blessed if you haven't smelt a stinky senegal poop.

Merlin has always had stinkers. He has been treated for a crop infection in the past (precaution, not necessarily having one) and it made no difference to his droppings. I think with an infection you're more likely to notice other 'odd' behaviours with it too.

I vote gas. :p

Oh, I should mention that he's not always 'bubbly'. Is Rio? Or is it usually his morning poops etc?

No not like all day. Sometimes a day or two goes by, nothing. But it's happened since I've had her. It has happened in the morning, but it just happened a little bit ago. Tried to get a picture, but when I thought to talk it bubble was gone.

So stinky poop = crop infection?

I think if it was an infection, it'd be more often than not... so I'm again set on the gas idea, unless anyone else has any other information?

Merlin's given me some vomit inducing type poops before... be grateful you're just getting bubbles :p

I'll go with the Gas thing too.

Normal decomposition of foods. I wonder how gassy a bird gets after bean day? he he he

I know, in humans, if we have a lot of sugar in our system it will cause our pee to bubble more (when it hits the water in the toilet). I know bird waste and human waste are nothing like each others ... But, if sugars can cause our fluid waste to bubble, it stands to reason that it COULD cause the liquids in bird waste to bubble too ...

Is the bubbling associated with any food changes or special treats you might give?

Oh god no. Merlin has 90% of the time, stinky poop. More so in the morning, as the day goes on, less so.

We rushed him to the vets one evening as he was regurgitating (but not normally) and just clear stuff was coming up. We panicked, raced him to the vets, vets looked him over (he'd stopped vomiting) and just prescribed him some general antibiotics incase it was a crop infection, but was probably nothing. :)

Crop infection has nothing to do with his stinkers. :)

I have no idea about the food changes associated with the bubbles. I try new foods all the time. I did make a mash the other day it has some beans in it and she did have some today too.

Diet impacts all poop and pee, so if you've got them on a really varied diet, things are likely to crop up as 'weird'. Wait until you see the outcome of them eating all red food, you'll think they've ruptured something! :) As long as there's poop in proportion to the food they're consuming (and they're fine otherwise!), generally all is well! :)

Ok so Mayden has seen bubbles in Merlin's smelly poop :) and I saw bubbles today in Rio's not so smelly poop. I like to know how common this really is because I have read on several websites gas or infection, go to vet. I have never been the kind of mom who automatically rushes their child, human or otherwise to the doctor. And dummy me forgot to ask the vet when we were there less then two weeks ago. It's definitely happens since them, latest being today.

So does anyone one else see this in their birds droppings too?

I have, and it's usually in a watery poop, like after lots of fruits ...

Hahaha thanks for that visual.. I have had some experience with that and carrots, scared the crap out of me. I was like Omg omg! She doesn't like blueberries, but she like pomegranates and I've notices a red tinge to her droppings after those.

Mine often have bubbles in the poop and it's just gas for them, if I'm feeling particularly paranoid I'll keep an eye on it, from what I've read if it goes back to normal within an hour or two all is well.

Diet impacts all poop and pee, ⋯

So you could in principle design food additives that produce creative or desirable effects. For example, poop that forms into non-sticky but very bouncy balls that are color coded for each different bird so they can't blame each other.

Ok so it's gas.... So is there ever a time when there is bubble and their is something actually wrong, would it include other symptoms as well as the bubbles?
