Well my blue throat macaw goes through toys in 2 mins or less huge wooden toys lol....yesterday, he was on his cage and he unscrewed all the perches and they dropped all down.....he has unscrewed perch on his play stand he knows has in indestrubcitable (yet to be determined manzinita play stand)....I"m just owndering if anyone can suggest a type of toy that she may like some sort of foraging toys that would not be easily destructible....she is more destructable than my friends hyacynth.....

thanks everyone

Haha sounds like a blue throat and as a fellow owner I nderstand your grief of the mechanical part... Mine doesn't chew much wood though, but if it is that bad just buy untreated pine and make toys cheaper then buying. In my btm cage we have a foragagin toy made from stainless steel bent angles and bolts and nuts holding it toghether. It is impossible to take apart all they can do I unscrew it an get the treats out of it. They are rather expensive like fifty plus dollars. I could look for a link later but the model I have I don't believe they make anymore. Use cheap toys like cardboard boxes and put a walnut or something in it and let him other destroy that. Paper towel rolls, drink holders you get at fast food places, the list is endless of cheap toys. Check out the do it yourself section on here many of the suggestions are cheap!

The hyacinth that is in a will for me doesn't destroy anything lol! Such a powerful beak and doesn't touch a single toy most of the time.

lol Blue throats are extremely smart, they can even unlock a pad lock if given enough time.

Have you tried planet pleasure toys? man are cleverly designed to be destructible but lasting.

Other than that I would suggest making your own toys, and buying/making foraging toys he has to figure out.

The day mine figures out his pad lock.... I will have to cry because he takes everything apart, tbh I tell people that blue throateds are probably the smartest of the macaws no matter what training is involved I've never met one that wasn't mechanically smart.

Lol I feel you and understand it, in a way you are kind of mad, but at the same time you are just sooo bewildered by there ability to do that. Some sale loo male m2 are so smart how about you meet a btm and then tell me what's smart;)

Can't help you on macaw toys, but I can help you on stopping him from unscrewing his perches.....what he's doing is just turning the perch itself until it drops...because opposing screws will either tighten or unscrew by simply turning the center shaft, unless one of the threads are left handed, so, you can replace one of the perch's mounting screws with a left handed one (only if the screw mounts from the outside) or you can install 2 stabilizing screws, one in each end of the perch.....

You'll need 2 screws (#6x1.75" - stainless steel wood screws) & 2 (#6x2.5" - stainless steel) fender washers.....the image below doesn't show an installed washer, but the washer spans the bars, to allow the angled screw to stabilize the perch.....in case captioning is needed, the top would be the outside of the cage bars...guess I should have turned it horizontal...the brown represents a perch.....
