I bought a pair of Nanday conures. I was told they were a proven pair, but I have not seen any signs of mating. I have introduced a breeding box, but they are not interested in it at all. They also have alot of feather loss. The male has no feathers on his chest at all and the female has alot of missing feathers as well. I have had them for about 2 months and have not seen them plucking or anything. anyone know what this could be?

Nandays usually only breed once, maybe twice a year and 2 months is not always enough time for a pair to get settled in and set up housekeeping.....some pairs will not breed the first season, however, breeding season for nandays is generally March through September.....

Did these birds come with missing feathers or have they been losing their feathers since you have had them?

You should probably get them DNA tested and get blood panels and fecals done on them. Unless you've seen chicks, a "proven pair" could just be a pair that "works the nest box" or one that "lays eggs" but does not actually produce chicks.

There feathers were like that when I got them. The lady told me they were molting but they have far too many feathers missing to be molting. She also told me they have had babies in the past. They are about 6yrs old.

A lot of breeders would sell off their worst stock or none producing stocks and call them proven breeders. Unless you've seen them having chicks with your own eyes, you can't always believe everything they say. I think you need to remove the nest box and learn a bit more before you proceed into breeding. You should always figure out your question and answers first before diving into breeding. I do understand that some things come along during breeding is when you find issues you need resolved. But please try to provide some more info on how well you know of breeding parrots??? How long have you owned parrots? Have you learned on how to hand feed baby chicks if they do have some?

Generally new birds most likely is not going to breed for you right away as they're still getting used to their new surroundings and you! NEVER buy pairs on eggs cause they will abandon them 100%
