So, are they being bred to avoid extinction? Are the Brazilian Hawkheads different from the rest of them. I’m in love with this bird.

That is one that I will have to research: A Brazilian Hawkhead. The family tree just keeps getting bigger. As with all Hawkheads, breath-taking!

"The sub-species, the “Brazilian Hawk-Headed Parrot” (Deroptyus accipitrinus fuscifrons), originates northern Brazil south of Amazon from northwest Maranhão west to upper Rio Madeira and its tributaries and south to northern Mato Grosso and northern Bolivia."

Yea, I hate that video but if you believe what's on the internet they have re-discovered the tiger alive and there are a number of films of it as well as a bunch of Zoologists that say it's not extinct.

I was looking for informations about brazilian hawkheads and the one at the video isn't the last. It was taken in 2008. For example this photo was taken in 2013.

According to the Honolulu Zoo Society,

"The hawk-heads are endangered in the wild because of deforestation and the pet trade. Deroptyus a. accipitrinus is more common than the nearly extinct Deroptyus accipitrinus fuscifrons in the wild. There are less than 12 Deroptyus a. fuscifrons in the wild. There are about 10 to 12 captive Deroptyus a. fuscifrons in the United States.
